Stages of Exam

PRELIMS

It is the first stage of HAS exam The objective of prelims is to eliminate

candidates who are unfit for HAS It is a multiple choice type round

The preliminary exam further has two papers General Studies CSAT

General Studies

This is said to be the most vast exam at state level.

A huge width of subjects like history,geography,enviroment,ecology,polity, economy,history etc. are covered .

Questions regarding Himachal state are also asked.

Format

HPAS GS has 100 questions of multiple choice with four answers.

Two hours are allocated to complete the paper. Each Question carries two marks. There is no negative marking

CSAT

CSAT was recently introduced in the HAS exam to check the general mental aptitude of the candidate

Areas like Quantitative aptitude, Reasoning ability, English comprehension, Decision making etc.

Questions related to psychology are also asked

Format

Format

Cutoff is prepared after combining marks of both paper 1 and paper 2

There is no individual cut off for the sections Generally around 60% marks are considered

safe for advancing to the next stage. The marks of prelims are not carried forward

to the next stages.
