H.P. Ueltschi - Owner of BERNINA is Coming to Dave’s BERNINA

Mr. Ueltschi took over the reins of Bernina from his mother in 1988 and runs the company to this day as owner and chairman of the board of directors. Sew WhatEverFall Newsletter 2017

This year so far we have wrangled our “PIGS,” untangled our “WIP’s” and become triumphant at learning something new on our “TECHNI”row’s. Now let’s do something amazing with the end of our year. As we work on our many unfinished projects that seem to keep coming out of every nook and cranny around the house, let us not forget those in need. Charity will be our goal for the end of this year.

“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.” - Kathy Calvin

There are many types of charities out there, so we will be creating bags that can hold different types of items. In Sew What-Ever, we will decide on what charities to focus on and create a list of items needed. Then, as these items come in, we will be creating the bags to put them in. Come on in to find out more about this goal we have.

“Charity Never Faileth” Wednesday, Sept. 66 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10

Come ready to learn how to make the charity bags, help choose a charity and then sew away till your hearts flowing with joy. Sew a bag or two (or more) then take after one of your elusive unfinished projects.

“TECHNI”Row - Stained Glass BraidWednesday, Sept. 136 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 plus suppliesTaught by Paula Jordan

Braids are a fun technique. This month we will be do-ing a braid with a “twist.” We will do it with a sashing piece. It is meant to look like stained glass. It will be a great row to put in your “TECHNI”Row quilt. This technique can also be used to make a great border or strips for quilts.

Pig Exchange QuiltWednesday, Sept. 206 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10Taught by Annette Rawlinson

Remember that darling pig quilt block we showed you at class? It makes me smile every time I look at it! We had so much fun working on our PIG’s that I think we all need one. Check out the supply list and bring your squares to exchange so we can all have a little bit of each other in this sweet quilt block. (Mine has the promise of turning into the cutest quilt ever!)

“We Rise by Lifting Others”Wednesday, Sept. 276 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10

As we create fun bags to fill for others, we become lifted. Have you found an unfinished project that was meant to be a gift? Bring it to work on so that gift can be given either to the original recipient or someone new.

Finding YourselfWednesday, Oct. 46 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” As your unfinished projects become complete, are there any that you know would help a friend or neighbor? How about passing them on and seeing the joy of gift giving?

“TECHNI”Row - Scrap TherapyWednesday, Oct. 116 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10 plus suppliesTaught by Annette Rawlinson

Does piecing a lot of little pieces of fabric together and get-ting all those intersections matched up scare you? We will use a scrap therapy panel for this row of our “TECHNI”Row quilt to help dispel those worries. We will use scraps, learn to streamline our piecing (without pins!) and then be amazed with perfect corners and a flat and stable quilt top. Perfect intersections here we come!

Are you ready for your “Harvest Re-treat” classes? Or do you need time to cut and prep? Come tonight and make sure you have everything done that your teacher has asked of you. If you are ready to go, then bring an unfinished project or make more bags for the charities.

Be KindWednesday, Nov. 16 to 9 p.m.Class fee: $10

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” When this is said, the mind also hears, “Have courage and be kind.” Do you have the courage to find the project that is hidden deep in the stash? This quarter we have been going the extra mile to reach out to those in need as well as finish our projects that have been cluttering up our lives and homes.
