1 Overview

This document describes the software installation (and upgrade) and configuration procedures for HPSmartStream Composer Lite 3.0 for Labels and Packaging Server, Powered by Esko V5.1 and V5.2.

PrerequisitesLocate the HP SmartStream Composer Lite 3.0 software installer files on the server.

● HP SmartStream Composer 3.0.45.exe

● Java 8 (jre-8u102-windows-x64.exe)

● apache-tomcat-7.0.57.exe

● vc_redist.x86.exe

● Mosaic sample job.hpd

● Mosaic sample job.txt

IMPORTANT: Before starting installation, make sure that you’re logged in as an Administrator.

2 New installation

NOTE: If this is an upgrade, proceed to Upgrading from HP SmartStream Composer Lite 2.0 on page 12.

Setting up the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)1. Right-click jre-8u102-windows-x64.exe and select Run as Administrator.

2. In the Welcome window that appears, click Install. A progress par displays the installation progress.

3. When the Complete window appears, to confirm the installation, click Close.

Setting up Apache Tomcat1. Right-click apache-tomcat-7.0.57.exe and select Run as Administrator.

2. In the Welcome window that appears, click Next.

3. In the License Agreement window that appears, click I agree.

The Choose Components window appears.

4. From the Select the type of install dropdown list, select Normal and then click Next.

The Configuration window appears.

5. In the HTTP/1.1 Connector Port field, type 80.

6. Verify that the Windows Service Name field is Tomcat7. Then click Next.

NOTE: Do not change any other settings in the Configuration window.

7. In the Java Virtual Machine window that appears, the target folder is detected automatically.

If the target folder is different than the last installed Java version (8.102), click the Browse button andbrowse to C:\Program Files\Java

8. In the window that appears, select jre8 and click Next.



9. In the Choose Install Location window that appears, verify that the Destination Folder is set to

C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0

If it is not, change it by browsing to this folder.

10. Click Install.

11. When the Completing the Setup Wizard window appears, select Run Apache Tomcat and click Finish.

Configuring Apache Tomcat

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.



2. In the Services window that appears, right-click Apache Tomcat 7.0 Tomcat7 and select Properties.

3. In the Properties window that appears, do the following:



a. Select the General tab.

b. From the Startup type dropdown list, select Automatic.

c. Click Stop to stop the Tomcat service.

4. Select the Log On tab and select the This account radio button.

5. For This account, use the following credentials:

● This account: administrator (The software changes it to .\administrator as shownabove.)

● Password and Confirm Password: The Windows password

6. Click OK to save the settings and close the Properties window.

7. Make sure Apache Tomcat is configured correctly.

a. In the Windows System Tray, double-click the Apache Tomcat icon or run Configure Tomcat via theStart menu.

b. In the Log on tab, verify that This account is selected and that the credentials defined in the previousstep are being used.

If the correct credentials are not being used, re-enter the credentials and then click OK.



Installing HP SmartStream Composer Lite software1. Close all DFE applications on the computer.

NOTE: If at any time during the installation you receive a Files in Use prompt from the InstallShieldWizard, select Automatically close and attempt to restart applications and click OK.

2. Double-click HP SmartStream Composer 3.0.45.exe to run the installer.

The installation package extracts and all open windows on the computer are automatically minimized.

3. When prompted, click OK to begin the installation.

A command window displays the current installation phase.

4. In the Welcome window that appears, click Next.

5. In the Destination Folder window that appears, click Next.



6. In the Ready to Install the Program window that appears, click Install.

7. Wait for the installation to finish.

8. Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable is needed in order to support jobs with Barcode Studio DynamicPersonalization. To install it, double-click installer file vc_redist.x86.exe. Accept the license and terms, andclick Install.

The installation completes in a few seconds.

9. Reboot the DFE computer.



3 Upgrading from HP SmartStream ComposerLite 2.0

NOTE: If this is a new installation, go back to New installation on page 2.

Setting up the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)1. Right-click jre-8u102-windows-x64.exe and select Run as Administrator.

2. In the Welcome window that appears, click Install. A progress par displays the installation progress.

3. When the Complete window appears, to confirm the installation, click Close.

Setting up Apache Tomcat1. Navigate to folder C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat 7.0\bin

2. Double-click Tomcat7w.exe

3. Click the Java tab.

4. Next to the Java Virtual Machine pane, click the browse button [...] and browse to folder C:\Program Files\Java

5. Select jre8 and click OK.

4 Post installation procedures

Share the Composer Presets folder1. Go to drive D:\.

2. Right-click the Composer Presets folder and select Properties.

3. Click the Sharing tab and then click Advanced Sharing.

4. In the Advanced Sharing window that appears, select the Share this folder check box and click Permissions.

5. For the Everyone group (or any other group defined by IT), select the Allow check box for the Full Controloption.

6. Click OK twice to confirm the settings and close the window.

Opening the HP SmartStream Composer Web UI1. From any computer (Mac or PC), open a Web browser (Chrome, Safari, Internet Explorer version 11 or later,

or Firefox).

2. Add the following to the browser’s Favorites or Bookmarks: http://16.20.111.22/Composer/#,where 16.20.111.22 is the computer’s IP address or computer name.

3. On the HP SmartStream Composer computer, open Windows File Explorer and type http://localhost/composer in the address bar.

5 Verifying the installation and configuration

Perform the following procedures to make sure the software is installed and configured correctly.

Performing a sanity test in HP SmartStream Composer Lite1. In HP SmartStream Composer Lite, click the Workflow tab.

2. Right-click VDP Sample Preset and select Duplicate VDP Preset.

3. Change Name to Sanity and leave Description empty.

4. Click Save Changes to confirm the settings and create the new preset.

5. Click the Jobs tab and then click Submit VDP Job.

6. From the Preset dropdown list, select Sanity.

7. For the HPD Template field, click the plus sign icon and then browse to and select the

MosaicPackage.hpd file.

8. At the far right of Files, click the plus sign icon and then browse to and select the MosaicPackage.txt

file.

9. Click OK to submit the job and then wait for the job to finish processing.

10. Preview the PDF to confirm it was created correctly.

Performing an end-to-end test from Mac to DFE via HP SmartStreamComposer Lite

1. In HP SmartStream Composer Lite on a Mac computer, click the Workflow tab.

2. Right-click VDP Sample Preset and select Duplicate VDP Preset.

Or, if it is available, right-click the previously created Sanity preset and select Edit.

3. In the Folders tab, set the Output folder to the DFE’s Hot Folder.

4. Drag and drop an HPD file onto the HPD folder designated in the Folders tab.

5. Drag and drop a database file onto the Input folder designated in the Folders tab.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that the database file and HPD file have the same name.

6. Preview the job as it is created in HP SmartStream Composer and as it is processed in the DFE.

7. Confirm that the desired output is produced by the DFE.
