INTRODUCTION

The purpose of this guide is to give the necessary steps to remove your device hard drive.

TOOLS:iFixit Opening Tools (1)Phillips #0 Screwdriver (1)




Step 1 — Battery

Make sure the computer iscompletely powered down andunplug the power cord.

Step 2

Place the device on your worksurface with bottom facing up andthe battery located at the top.




Step 3

Slide the left release tab toward thecenter of the computer to the unlockposition. Next slid the right tabtoward the center of the computerand hold it there while completingstep 4.

Step 4

Remove the battery by sliding itupwards and away from thecomputer.




Step 5 — Keyboard

Unscrew the ten 6.0 mm Philipshead screws on the base of thedevice with a Phillips #0 headscrewdriver.

Step 6

Insert the plastic opening toolbetween the keyboard and theplastic housing.

Pry the keyboard upward away fromthe device.

Move the tool around the edge ofthe entire keyboard while continuingto pry.

You will hear the clips pop once youhave released them.




Step 7

Once you have released all of theclips, slowly lift the keyboardexposing the ribbon cable.

Lift the tab on the keyboard ZIFconnector with a plastic opening tooland gently remove the ribbon cable.

Step 8 — Palm Rest

Remove the eight 6.0 mm screwslocated under the keyboard withyour Philips #0 screwdriver.




Step 9

Remove the track pad and powerbutton ribbon cables.

Lift the locking bar on eachconnector with a plastic openingtool and gently remove the ribboncables

Step 10

To remove the palm rest, insert theplastic opening tool in the seambetween the palm rest and the base.

Pry upward to undo each clip.

Continue this process around theentire palm rest.




Step 11

Once all clips have been undone liftthe palm rest away from the laptop.

Step 12 — Hard Drive

Gently unhook the ribbon cableblocking the hard drive by lifting thelocking bar with a plastic openingtool.




To reassemble your device, follow these instructions in reverse order.

Step 13

Remove the 2 screws securing thehard drive

Lift the hard drive up and removethe connector on the end using theblue opening tool.
