Firstly, to get started with Photoshop, you have to create a new blank document to work from. To do this, you go to file then new. When on this you’ll see a box with several options to choose from.

Preset: International paper.

Size: A4

Then you can edit the others to fit your needs, but with this one I will just leave them as they are.

Magnetic tool:

This is me using the magnetic tool, selecting the model Rihanna and trying to separate her from the background and to put her onto a new image.

Blur tool:

This is the blur tool, i learnt to use this tool when it came to making the edges seem more blended in with the background and make it look more like the image should be there, this creates a good effect for the magazine and makes it look more professional.

Editing brightness and contrast:

Another tool I have learnt on Photoshop is how to edit the brightness and contrast of particular parts of the image. Here I selected the lips which was a brighter red and turned them into dark red, this creates more of a deep look to the image and puts across more of a sensual vibe. I also did this with the eyes and made them more of a bright blue.

Clone tool:

Here is evidence of me using the clone tool, I have made the hair a little larger and a bit of a mixed colour, covering the blackness underneath her ear and turning it into red again. Also I have edited the body bit, making the skin more blended and tanned giving the photo more sophistication.

Text effect:

Here is some of the effects I used on my magazines, I have used the inner shadow, outer shadow, bevel and emboss and drop shadow to create this effect. This makes the text stand out more and look more professional, which makes it more of a standard for the magazine as a whole.

Gradient tool:

Here I am using the gradient tool with the background, it creates nice background if it just has a model on. I practised this tool on my inside pages on my music magazine, seeing if it worked with the texts and images.

Quick Selection Tool:

This is the quick selection tool, with this tool it selects parts of the image which look similar and makes it so that they are able to move as one. I learnt to use this tool with my school magazine when selecting parts to remove, which then later on helped me on my music magazine.
