What is Jing?



It’s a computer program that

captures images and create

videos


Of what you see on your screen


It makes it possible to quickly


Upload and share your videos and

screenshots


Let’s start to explore Jing


Open your browser


Type

www.techsmith.com/jing.html


This is Jing’s homepage


Click Free Download


Choose the applicable version of

Jing to download


For this tutorial, click Start

Windows Download


Wait until installer download is

done


Once download is done, open the

installer


Check “I accept the fine print”


Click Install


User account control appears,

click Yes


Once setup is done, this will

appear. Click Finish


This is Jing’s welcome page


Click Get Started


Sign-up form appears. First fill

out email address


Enter display name


Enter desired password


Select country


Click Create


Notice the Jing sun appeared on

your screen


Hover your mouse on Jing’s sun

to show it’s menu


This is the capture button


This is the history button


This is the more button


Let’s take our first screenshot

using Jing. Click capture button


These 2 yellow lines will appear


These lines specify the exact area

you want to capture


To capture the image, click and

drag the yellow lines


Click Capture image button


This is the image preview


You can edit the image using

these tools


Click this to add an arrow to the

image


Like this one


To add a text to the image, click

text button


Then type your text


This button is for adding a frame


Like this one


Now, click the highlight button


And highlight the area of the

image


This is for customizing color of

arrow, frame and highlight


Type a title for this image


Click Save


Choose a location where you want

to save the image


Click Save


Capture saved notification

appears


Click this to open the file


Click this to close the notification

Now let’s learn how to capture

video


Click here to capture video


Mic should be on so you can

include voice over


Click this to pause recording


Click here to resume recording


Click this when you’re done

This is the video preview


Click this to play the video


Type a title for this video


Click this to save the video


Select a location where you want

to save your video


Click Save


Capture saved notification

appears


Click here to open the file


Click here to close this box


Let’s try to share our video


In the video preview, click this


File will then be uploaded at

Screencast.com


Notification appears that video has

been uploaded to screencast.com


Click View on Screencast.com


New tab will automatically appear

in a browser


Select the link


Right click


Select copy

Now you can share this link to

your friends


You can share this in Facebook


In your facebook status, right

click


Select paste


Click post to share the link


You can also share the link in

your email


In your email, click Compose


Paste the link in the body of your

message


Then click Send


Just copy and paste link for your

friends to click


Let’s click history in Jing’s sun


You can see a list of all your

captures here


Select one


Clicking this will show preview of

the video/image


Clicking this will share

video/image by Screencast.com


Clicking this will delete the

video/image


Now let’s click More


This will appear


Click this to finish


Click this to send feedback


Click this to show preferences


Preferences show other options

that you may set for Jing.


This one is the help button


Clicking this will exit Jing

application
