The official Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 update for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 is out. The ROM version is XXJVK and brings a whole lot of improvements all around. Rest assured this is the full version and not a beta. Follow this step-by-step guide to Install XXJVO Android 2.3.3 ROM on your Galaxy S: 1. Download XWJVH with_bootloaders version. File name GT_I9000_XXJVO_XXJVO_OXAJVO_Sbl.exe. Download Link. Size: 148.47 MB. [If you already have Android 2.3 bootloaders, download XXJVO without_bootloaders version. Double click GT_I9000_XXJVO_XXJVO_OXAJVO_Sbl.exe and select Extract to let the file extract its contents in the folder GT_I9000_XXJVO_XXJVO_OXAJVO_Sbl youll get 3 files in this folder: 1. CSC_OXAJVO.tar.md5 2. PDA_XXJVO_Sbl.tar.md5 3. PHONE_XXJVO.tar.md5 3. Download Odin3 v1.7.zip from here Mediafire Link. Extract the zip file to get Odin3 v1.7.exe. 4. Disconnect your phone if its connected to PC. 5. Switch Off your phone. Wait for vibration to confirm complete switch off. 6. Now, put it in Download Mode press and hold these keys together: Volume_DOWN + Home + Power. 7. Open Odin (from step 3). Connect your phone to PC now. You should get the message Added! ! under the Odins message box. 8. Important, uncheck the Re-Partition button. While, keep Auto Reboot & F. Reset Time boxes checked. 9. In Odin, place these files (check out the screenshot given at the top for help):

1. In the PDA box, select this file (from step 2.2) PDA_XXJVO_Sbl.tar.md5 2. In the Phone box, select this file (from step 2.3) PHONE_XXJVO.tar.md5 3. In the CSC box, select this file (from step 2.1) CSC_OXAJVO.tar.md5 4. Leave the PIT box empty. 10. Double check everything said in step 7, 8 and 9 above. 11. Now, hit the START button to let the process begin. 12. When process at Odin finishes your phone will automatically reboot. You can unplug the cable now. 13. When your phone has restarted, you are on the XXJVO running Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread). Congrats! 14. Check your phones version by here: Press Options -> Settings -> Scroll down and select About Phone -> Scroll down and check your version.

Important Note: If you are experiencing any problems while following the above mentioned steps, try flashing your phone again with 512 PIT file and Re-Partition box checked. All the other steps remain the same.

Perhaps your carrier requires you to setup the APN data because its a general release and not a carrier release. What carrier are you using? If you know the carrier APN data here is the input method. 1. Touch the Menu key 2. Touch Settings 3. Touch Wireless & networks 4. Touch Mobile networks 5. Touch Access Point Names Input the information there. If you dont know the APN data either google it or write back and Ill have a look. I assume since no one else has posted that its not common but I may be wrong. If anyone else has it would be helpful for them to post their work arounds too.

Do i need to have my phone rooted?Reply

8.

Tech Tte says: May 12, 2011 at 10:37 am

No, this should not require you to have your phone rooted as it is a direct update from Google. The update file has been downloaded from Tech Tte over 1,000 times with no

issues during the update process. If you do have any issues though please post here and we can definitely find you a solution.Reply

when i upgrade my phone to Gingerbread 2.2.3 do i lose any data or do i have all the notes and contacts in my phone ?

Reply

Tech Tte says: May 26, 2011 at 5:47 pm

You would most likely lose your data as its reinstalling the ROM. Just make sure you have contacts, notes, etc backed up on your PC before you do the updateReply

I have samsung galaxy s GT-I9000 , I couldnot use yahoo messenger for video & voice call from my device if you have any solution please post the solution.., Thank you. RameshReply

Tech Tte says: May 31, 2011 at 5:04 pm

Ive heard of lots of issues with Yahoo Messenger lately. This update targets Google chat apps more than Yahoo. You could try deleting the Yahoo app from the phone and re-installing it. Could also be a setting that is off as well. If that doesnt work please describe your issue in a bit more detail so we can tell what exactly is going on.Reply

This is a complete guide for a novice user on how to get the latest Gingerbread 2.3.3 for galaxy S i9000 International version. Please Stop if you have a different version of galaxy S >> What does it mean international version? How can i check that? Does it have any special list of the product codes?Reply

o

Tech Tte says: June 14, 2011 at 9:15 am

It is a universal version (also known as stock version) that works on any Galaxy S meaning its the official release from Samsung not a version put out by your carrier. Key differences: 1. Your carrier has not added any software packages(their logo, tracking software, carrier applications) 2. You will be running the official version and simply just need to input your

carriers APN settings (if necessary) which is easy and can be found via your carriers website or Google There is no danger in using this, this is actually the cleanest version you can get.Reply

Ruslan says: June 14, 2011 at 9:50 am

Thanks a lot for the reply! Will try nowReply

o

Tech Tte says: June 14, 2011 at 10:14 am

Not a problem! Let us know if you need anything! If you need to enter your APN settings (some carriers do and some dont) refer to the first reply for instructions. Enjoy!Reply

Ruslan says: June 14, 2011 at 10:34 am

Thank you once again for the tutorial. Everything works perfectly )) APN settings are not a problem for me

Its because you are doing a fresh install. Do you sync your data so when you update you dont lose everything as it would sync it back over?Reply

How long does it usually take after we hit start? The last message in the message box says setup connection and it hasnt done anything since. Do I just unplug the usb/phone and it will be on there? Also, I only had android 2.1 eclair on there to begin with, we didnt need to have froyo first before gingerbread did we? I was going to put froyo on there first but I cannot connect my kies anymore and I dida factory reset etc. Any help would be appreciated.Reply

o

Tech Tte says: July 21, 2011 at 12:44 pm

Reboot your phone while still plugged in and it should work. If not make sure its plug into the rear of your computer and not the front USB ports or a USB hub.Reply

28.

Kristy says: July 21, 2011 at 2:46 pm

Nope that didnt work as it hadnt even finished installing but I had to remove the usb, take the battery out and put it back in. Go in download mode again and repeat all the steps involved except download the files from the links you gave us and then it installed properly and now my phone is working. Thank you very much, your a legend for posting an easy to do guide.Reply

Open the Messages and Compose a new message. Touch and hold your finger on the body of the message. A prompt will come with some options, choose Input Method from the list. It will display the list of the keyboards supported by your device. Just choose Swype from the keyboard list.

And everytime to try to unzip, it says: The archive is either in unknown format or damaged? Do you know why? or where I can download the complete file? Thanks!

Hi, I just want to say, thank you for saving my phone. I was on v2.2.1 and my phone would not get passed the Samsung welcome screen. I tried flashing the firmware again 4 times without success. I then used your file to upgrade to Gingerbread v2.3.3 and it was a success. I was not happy that I would lose my photos and video of my 2 month old daughter, but amazingly, they were still accessible on my phone after the upgrade and after i had previously done a factory reset!!. Thanks for this tool, much appreciated. AllenReply
