This procedure will guide you through how to access the ASCP store, take online

courses, obtain credit. There are courses which require that you pass in 3 attempts

with a score of 80% or higher to obtain credit and some do not have this require-

ment. These courses meet the following criteria of one or more of the following:

How to Take ASCP Online Courses and Obtain Credit

CMEThe American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education (CME) for physicians. The ASCP designates this activity for a maximum for AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

SAMS This activity meets the Self-Assessment Module (SAMs) credit which meet the Ameri-can Board of Pathology (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part II Life Long Learn-ing & Self-Assessment.

CMLE These CMLE credits will be suitable for use for the ASCP Credential Maintenance Pro-gram (CMP).


1. Click Log in at the top right of the home page.

2. Enter the user name or customer ID and the password.

3. Select Login to ASCP.

Note: If you forgot or don’t have a user name and password, click on one of the following links:

a. Forgot User ID/Password or;b. Create New Account with ASCP or;c. Contact ASCP

4. After a successful log-in, the Dashboard will appear with the following place cards:

a. My Profile

b. My Education

5. To access the ASCP online courses do one of the following:

a. Under My Education, click on the Find Courses button.

b. Or click on Education tab at top which will take you directly to the Find Course page.

6. On the next screen the Find Education tab is selected by default.

7. There are three ways you can find/search for an online course that would fulfill the progress require-ments for whatever category is selected in the up-per panel of the screen such as Continuing Educa-tion, LMU, MOC;

a. Filter – Find course(s) by filtering the Discipline (Anatomic or Clinical) and Specialty (Anatomic Pathology, Autopsy/Forensic, Cytopathology + Subspecialty field, Histology, Molecular Patholo-gy, and Surgical Pathology + Subspecialty field)

b. Find by selecting either;i. All Coursesii. New Offeringsiii. Features Productsiv. CE Packagesv. LMU Courses

c. Using the Search within Results field, enter text such as specialty words, phases, course title or number, partial title information, etc.

8. Once the course(s) is found, click on one of the but-tons below to continue;

a. Add to my Courses will place course under My Courses tab for Launch to online course + credits

b. Save will hold course under My Courses tab to later use or remove

c. Add to Cart will place in the Shopping Cart for purchase and Launch to online course + credits

Note: As a member, you are allowed a certain number of Free Credits; purchase of online courses will not be made available until Free Credits have been used.

9. Click on the My Courses tab to find your pre-selected course available to take online.

Note: Selected courses sent to the Shopping Cart will need to be paid before starting the online session.

10. Click on the Shopping Cart icon at the top of the page. The icon will also show how many items are in the shopping cart.

11. In the Shopping Cart screen, please review each item listed for accuracy.

a. Click Remove if not wanted.

b. You may also change the quantity by high-lighting the quantity number and typing in the number of items wanted; then click the Update button to save the quantity and re-calculate the total amount due for payment.

c. The Save for Later link allows you to keep that item in the cart until you are ready to purchase or remove it.

d. If your product is being shipped to you, a good estimate of shipping cost can be ob-tained by entering country (ex. United States) from the dropdown menu and postal code (ex. 60603); then clicking on the Estimate button. Results will give you an estimated shipping cost and total cost.

12. Click on the Checkout button to be transferred to the Payment Information screen.

13. On the Payment Information screen, enter payment information in the appropriate fields. All items annotated with the asterisk (*) must be completed.

a. Click the check box if you want ASCP to save the credit card information for future purchases.

Note: You can only pay with a credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and American Express).

14. Click on Complete Order to process payment.

15. An Order Summary page is generated once payment is authorized. Review and print this page for your records.

Note: Personify generates an Order Summary page which is emailed to the customer. Use your Order Number for referencing the order or correspondence.

16. Click on the Dashboard tab to return to My Courses page to launch other course(s) and obtain credit.

17. On the My Courses page, find and select your course then click on the Launch button to start.

18. A screen will appear giving you the option to elect the CE Credit Type which is offered to courses designated as such. Select the appro-priate credit type.

19. The following is list of designating options for Credit Types:

Note: Once the credit type is selected, the choice cannot be changed.

a. Pop-up Box 1 (some CheckPath courses):i. SAMs CME optionii. CME only optioniii. CMLE only option (technologist only)

b. Pop-up Xox 2 (some CheckPath courses, all API courses, and all Case Report courses)

i. CME creditii. CMLE credit (technologists only)

c. PRISE modules:i. Timedii. UnTimed

Note: Once a time limit type is selected, the selection cannot be changed.

20. Finally, click on Begin Course if you are ready to start the course. Otherwise, close out (“X”) of the dialog box and return to My Courses.

21. The Learn-Upon Course Detail page will dis-play on the Dashboard page. Before starting the course, it is recommended that you thoroughly read all information:

22. Your Progress is displayed in the Course Description area and on the Dashboard of Enrolled Courses. If you should close out on the course unfinished, Learn-Upon saves your progress percentage and allows you to continue the course where you left off. You must receive a minimum passing score of 80% to receive CE credit and you will receive 3 attempts to suc-cessfully pass the course.

23. Start the course by clicking on the blue Start Course button.

24. Read instructions completely and follow all assignments as prompted.

25. Continue the course by scrolling to the bottom and clicking on the Next button.

Note: When reaching the last question, this is an opportunity to go back and review and/or change your answers before submitting the exam.

26. Complete the course as instructed and click on the Submit Exam button.

27. A pop-up screen confirming that you are ready to submit your test answers will display.

Note: Any questions not answered are considered incorrect.

28. The exam results are immediately known. If you received an 80% score, you passed and will proceed to the Evaluation Module. If you did not receive an 80% score, you will have a total of 3 attempts to pass.

29. A passing score will qualify you for the Evaluation. Please answer all questions and respond to all comments.

30. Once you have completed the Evaluation, you will automatically receive designated CE Credits for the course.

31. Confirm your CME, CMLE, or SAMs credits, and print certificates or transcripts. You can do this by:

a. Clicking on Education within the main navigation.

b. Then clicking on Certificates & Transcripts tab.

32. Always securely Log out before closing the browser.
