PEDro Physiotherapy Evidence Database
• A free database containing citations to randomised
controlled trials, systematic reviews and evidence-based
clinical practice guidelines relevant to physiotherapy
• Randomised controlled trials are rated for quality using
the PEDro scale
• PEDro is produced by the Centre for Evidence-Based
Physiotherapy at The George Institute for Global Health.

• Select ‘PEDro’ from A-Z list or from the drop-down menu under
Health Sciences choose Physiotherapy
• Also freely available at: www.pedro.org.au/

Search Tips
• Use Advanced Search
• Use * to search for variations of a word, ie. fall* will search for fall,
falls, falling, etc
• Use @ to replace a letter for alternate spellings eg. organi@ation
• Search using keywords and/or select from pull-down lists
• Ability to combine search terms using AND and OR (available at the
bottom of the Advanced Search page)
• You do not need to enter search terms in EVERY box. For most
searches a maximum of three boxes is sufficient

What is the Pedro Scale?
All trials on PEDro are rated with a checklist called the PEDro scale, based
on the following criteria:
1 Eligibility criteria specified
2 Random allocation
3 Concealed allocation
4 Baseline similarity
5, 6 & 7 Blinding of subjects, therapists and assessors
8 Measures of key outcomes from more than 85% of subjects
9 Intention to treat analysis
10 Between-group statistical comparisions
11 Point measures of variability
