tool for all areas of sports & sports medicine

literature.

Provides full text to more than 550 journals in

SPORTDiscus. It provides comprehensive coverage

to a wide variety of topics, including: sports

medicine and science; physical fitness, exercise and

education; kinesiology; coaching, training and sport

administration; officiating, sport law & legislation;

doping, health and health education.

To get access to this electronic resource off-campus, you

need to have created an Athens Account. If you don’t

STEP 1 Log in to Weblearn

Log in to Weblearn at: http://weblearn.nescot.ac.uk/

STEP 2 Open the database in your course

Go to your course and find the e-resources and e-books

section. Click on ‘SPORTDiscuss’ to gain access to the

database.

STEP 3 (only off-campus) Sign in via OpenAthens

Enter your Athens username (ness0------) and password.

STEP 4 Select database

Select SPORTDiscus with Full Text database and click

‘Continue’.

STEP 5 Search

Enter keywords in the search box for a basic search (e.g.

sport coaching). When you begin typing into the search

box a list of possible search options will present

themselves. Click ‘Search’ button.

STEP 6 Search Results

Then you get a list of results that match your search.

STEP 7 Filter results

Use the filters on the left hand side to make your search

more precise by limiting the results to full text articles,

publication date, source type, subject or publication

title. The list will be automatically refreshed.

STEP 7 Bibliographic details

Every article you find includes full bibliographic

information such as article title, author, journal title,

volume, date and number of pages. You will need this

information in your bibliography and references if you

use the article in your assignment.

STEP 8 Open the article

To read the article click on the link to the PDF document.

STEP 9 Read the article

Once you get the PDF document, you can read the

article online, minimise or maximise the size and

navigate by using the scroll bar. You can also navigate

through the contents table on the left hand side. The set

of tools also allows you to print a copy and email the

document.
