Registering Your Business in the Local First Utah Directory

A Step-By-Step Tutorial

Visit our website at www.localfirst.org.

Hover over the “Directory” header to see the options in that category.

In the dropdown menu, select “Submit a New Listing.”

Once on the “Submit a New Listing” page, scroll to the bottom of the page to the “Submit Your Business” subsection. If you already have a business listing in the Local First Utah Directory, sign in using your user name and password to update your listing.

If you don’t already have a business listing in the Local First Utah Directory, click on the “Select Category” box.

In the dropdown menu, select the broad category that your business best fits into.

Next, click on the new “Select Category” box.

In the dropdown menu, select the specific category that your business best fits into.

Now, select a plan from those available: Basic Listing, Enhanced Listing, or Leaders Circle.

Basic Partner Listing – Free•Name, address, telephone number and 500 character description of your business•A Local First Utah window cling to display in your business•A digital Local First Utah start up kit, featuring key tips and ideas to co-brand your business as locally owned• Access to printed marketing and educational materials, such as the “Ten Reasons for Shopping Locally” through our online storefront•An invitation to enroll in our two annual campaigns, “Independents Week” and “Shift Your Spending Week,” for the small fee of $15 per campaign.•Subscription to our e-newsletter

Sustaining Partner Listing – $11 per month, or $120 annually•All elements of the Basic Partner Listing, plus a 1,000 character business description•An active link to your business’s website•One video and/or one image related to your business•Auto-enrollment in “Independents Week” and “Shift Your Spending Week” for no fee•Automatic receipt of Local First Utah branded digital marketing content sent directly to your e-mail on a monthly basis•Access to educational videos, and other promotional pieces through our Partner Resources page and online storefront

Local First Leaders Circle - $84 per month or $1,000 annually•All elements of the Sustaining Partner Listing, plus a 1,500 character business description•An active link to your business’s website on the Local First Utah homepage•Logo placement at Celebrate the Bounty and at Local First Utah Headquarters

Fill out the provided form using your name, email address, and listing title (the name of your business). We don’t publish the name and email address you provide here; it’s only for us to communicate with you about your account. Also create a username.

Answer these questions that clarify our definition of locally owned for the purposes of our business directory. We still verify all businesses to be sure their business license is held locally before they are published on our directory.

Complete this section with the location and contact information for your business that will be visible on your listing.

Complete the Mailing Information section with the mailing information for your business that will be not visible on your listing, and will only be used by Local First Utah.

Complete the Business Description section, which will be publicly displayed on your business listing. Basic listings are limited to 500 characters (about 100 words) and may not include a URL in the description. Descriptions may be edited by Local First Utah to fit these parameters.

Enter the security code to prove you aren’t a robot, and click “Submit.”

Select your payment method (we’ve made it an easy choice), and click “Continue.”

Verify that your order is correct, and click “Place Order.”

Fill out your payment information.

And click “Submit.”

Within minutes, you will receive an email like this to the email address you provided. If you don’t see anything, check your spam folder. If you still don’t see anything, email info (at) localfirst.org.

Ta da! Here it is! Once we officially approve your listing (we just verify that you meet our definition of local), it will be publicly available in our directory and you’ll receive an email directing you to create a password.

If you selected a Basic Listing as your plan, you’ll see this page as well. Businesses with Basic Listings are not able to upload any images; those with Enhanced Listings are able to upload one image/logo; and those in the Local First Leaders Circle are able to upload up to three images/logos and three videos.
