• Go to http:///www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov

• On the right side of the page, click “Registration Changes”

• Enter the information in the appropriate fields, and click “Login”

Enter the facility address where you will be working. You cannot use a home address here. You can use your home address as the Mailing Address at the bottom of this page

For Business Phone and Business E-mail, you may use your cell phone number and personal e-mail address. This is where the DEA will contact you regarding your application.

Tip: You may either choose to enter your mailing address below this or elect to have it sent directly to the facility by selecting the “Check if same as business” box.

• This form will prepopulate with the information from your current DEA registration.

Your Social Security Number or Tax ID will be prepopulated.

If this is your second or third DEA, you may get a message stating that another DEA is registered under the SS# or TID#. Click Next, the DEAs will be linked via the number.

This will be prepopulated, but make sure to double-check the information in the required fields.

Enter the state license information for the state in which you are applying.

Some states require an additional state controlled substance registration. If you are applying for a DEA in one of these states, you will also be prompted to input your CSR information as well.

• On the Background Information page, you will need to answer four yes/no questions. Answer honestly and explain any yes answers.

• You will be asked to review the application, e-sign at the bottom, and click submit.

• Save a copy of the receipt and the confirmation number so that you can track it with the DEA office.

• DEA registrations typically processes within 24-48 hours, but can take longer depending on whether you answered “yes” to any of the background questions, or the local DEA office is busy. You may call your local DEA office to follow up as well.
