Many homes and offices have various cables and wires in place: computer cables, electrical wires, telephone lines, appliance cords, and wirings from our automation, smoke and fire alarm systems. These are essential in powering our properties and connecting our appliances or machinery to the power outlets so we can use our devices in carrying out our tasks



At times, you can find your children playing with the cords at home or find your pets chewing at them. You can do much to protect your cords and wirings from contact by children and pets, but they are not the biggest threats.

The basic protection is to keep your cords and wirings out of reach so rodents would not reach them. Main reason why rodents chew on wires is because we did not cover them for protection or prevent them from doing so.



You can use cord clips to attach cables and wires to wall surfaces. To hide wires, you can use a concealed surge protector. This will both protect your wires against pests and against power surge and lightning strike. Enclose your cables and wires in tubes or conduits. You can slit PVC piping lengthwise and cover the cables going overhead. If they are too large, you can enclose them with a raceway.



The excess cord length of your appliance, telephone or computer can be both problematic and hazardous at times. You might trip over long cords or else rodents can easily damage them. Why don’t you tuck the excess cord neatly in a cable turtle? They eliminate the mess of tangled cords and protect against damage too. Prevention and exclusion are still the best methods to prevent rodent damage. Seal all entry points and remove clutter that could encourage rodent entry into your property.
