“On the authority of Abu Abdul Rahmaan Abdullah (r), the son of Umar ibn al-Kattaab (r) who said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: ‘Islam is built upon five [pillars]: testifying that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, establishing the prayers, giving zakat, making pilgrimage to the House and fasting the month of Ramadan.’” (Recorded in Bukhari and Muslim)In the following slides we will explain how to pray.
Prayer( Solat) is second in priories among the Islamic Pillars
Face the Qiblah (toward Mecca)
Make sure you’re in a clean area.
Now you are about to start one of the
following prayers: 1st prayer (Subh), 2nd
prayer (Dhuhr), 3rd (Asr), 4th (Maghrib),
5th (Ishaa).
Note that all of these prayers are obligatory.
Before you start
Start the prayer raising both hands up close to your ears.
The palms of your hands should be open
and say: "Allahu Akbar“
Translation: (God is Most Great).
Note that you have started your prayer.
Always lower your eyes to the point that will meat your
head when you prostrate to the ground.
"Allahu Akbar“
Starting the prayer
Lower your hands and put one hand on the
other hand between your chest and upper
stomach, and start reciting surat “al fatiha”, say
“ameen” once you finish it.
And then start reciting another small surat.
( Note that you are still standing)
Please note that you can’t start in your own
mother tongue, you can pass the meaning s on
your heart till you learn every word by heart
Reciting Fate’ha and short Sura
Once you finish reciting, raise your hands up to the
ears, saying "Allahu Akbar."
Bow (your hands on your knees, back straight, your
face toward the ground, saying three times,
Transliteration : "Subhana rabbiyal adheem"
Meaning: (Glory be to my Lord Almighty).
This position is called (ruku’). See photo.
Subhana rabbiyal adheem
Rise back to standing while saying
"Sami’a Allahu liman hamidah,
Rabbana wa lakal hamd"
Translation (God hears those who call
upon Him; Our Lord, praise be to You).
"Sami’a Allahu liman hamidah,
Rabbana wa lakal hamd"
Raise hands up, saying "Allahu Akbar“
Descend to the ground while your face on
the ground, say three times “
Transliteration: Subhana Rabbiyal A'ala"
Meaning : (Glory be to my Lord, the Most
High).
This position is called “sujud”
Subhana Rabbiyal A'ala
Then prostrate back on the ground (this is the second time you do
it), while your face on the ground say three times "Subhana
Rabbiyal A'ala“
You have to sit a while ( till you rest) between the two prostrations
and even between every two Rakas
You have now finished the first Raka
Stand up saying "Allahu Akbar“
Note that you will do the second Raka ( and even all Rakas ) in the
same way.
you are now have done the first two Raka.
If you are doing two-raka salat, recite full Tushhid ( see it
in the end of this presentation)
When you finish turn your face to the right and say
"Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah" (Peace be upon you
and God's blessings), and turn to the left and say the same
“Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah".
If you are doing four- Raks Salat, just recite half of the
Tushhid after the first two rakas
then stand up saying Allah Wa Akbar and do the
previous steps in the two remaining Rakas and read Full
Tushhid at the end of the final Raka.
In the name of God, the infinitely Compassionate and Merciful. Praise be to God, Lord of all the worlds. The Compassionate, the Merciful.
Ruler on the Day of Reckoning. You alone do we worship, and You alone do we ask for help. Guide us on the straight path, the path of those who have received your grace; not the path of those who have brought down wrath, nor of those who wander astray. Amen.
