Amy Webster, TIS [email protected] HowtoMirroryourDisplay You will want to use these directions if when you project your laptop all you see is the background image. Meaning on your computer you can see everything but when you look at the projection it is only the desktop background. If you follow the directions your screen should change. Go to the apple in the top left hand corner of your screen Click on the apple and a menu will appear. From that menu you will want to select System Preferences. A new window will appear that looks like the picture below. You will want to click on Displays. After clicking on displays a new window will appear that looks like the one below. You will only get this menu when you are plugged into a projector. You want to make sure that the window has the Arrangement tab. Click on it and it will open another window.

How to Mirror your Display  You  will  want  to  use  these  directions  if  when  you  project  your  laptop  all  you  see  is  the  background  image.    Meaning  on  your  computer  you  can  see  everything  but  when  you  look  at  the  projection  it  is  only  the  desktop  background.    If  you  follow  the  directions  your  screen  should  change.        Go  to  the  apple  in  the  top  left  hand  corner  of  your  screen   Click  on  the

apple  and  a  menu  will  appear.

Again,  you  will  only  have  the  Arrangement  tab  if  you  are  plugged  into  a  projector.    The  window  to  the  left  is  what  you  should  get  after  clicking  on  the  Arrangement  tab.        Notice  that  towards  the  bottom  left  corner  you  will  see  Mirror  Displays.    What  this  will  do  is  make  whatever  is  on  your  screen  project  through  the  projector.    If  you  do  not  have  this  selected  as  you

can  see  by  the  diagram  you  will  have  two  displays.    In  order  for  something  to  show  up  on  the  projector  you  would  have  to  drag  it  to  the  right  of  your  computer  screen.

So  you  will  want  to  check  Mirror  Displays.    The  window  you  have  open  should  now  look  like  the  one  to  the  right.    Where  both  screens  are  on  top  of  each  other.        You  can  now  exit  your  System  Preferences.    You  should  see  your  desktop  displayed  through  the  projector.
