CharismFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Religious meaning

A charism (plural: charismata. From the Greek, charis - grace; the divine influence on the receiver's heart, and its reflection in his or her life[1] is a power, generally of a spiritual nature, believed to be a freely given gift by the grace of God.

In the study of church matters, it also refers to the particular grace granted by God to religious founders and their organization which distinguish them from other organizations within the same church. The term is used in this sense especially in the ecclesiology of the Roman Catholic Church.

International Associations Of The Faithful Directory

Pontifical Council For The Laity - International Associations Of The Faithful Directory

As John Paul II has said, across the centuries "we have constantly seen the phenomenon of groups of varying sizes being spontaneously urged on to join together, driven by a mysterious prompting of the Holy Spirit, to pursue specific charitable or spiritual purposes to meet particular needs of the Church in their time and also to cooperate in her essential and permanent mission".

Right of the faithful Can. 215: The Christian faithful are at liberty freely to found and

direct associations for purposes of charity or piety or for the promotion of the Christian vocation in the world and to hold meetings for the common pursuit of these purposes.

Encouraged by the Hierarchy Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World Gaudium

et Spes, no. 90: There are also various Catholic associations on an international level which can contribute in many ways to the building up of a peaceful and fraternal community of nations. These should be strengthened … They also help to form an awareness of genuine universal solidarity and responsibility.

Matthew 3:13-17, Mark 1:9-11, Luke 3:21-22, John 1:29-34

Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the

Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?" Jesus said to him in reply, "Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened (for him), and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove (and) coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus approached and said to them, "All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age."

Magisterium - Teaching - Truth

From the Catechism of the Catholic Church

The Magisterium ensures the Church's fidelity to the teaching of the Apostles in matters of faith and morals (85, 890, 2033).

Subsidiarity

Solidarity

Proper Pastoral Care is accomplished by balancing the tension between:

Subidiarity and SolidarityDiocesan Communities and International, National, Regional

Structure

Page 23: How To Live Our Cursillo Charism Web

1. Cursilistas in communion with their brothers and sisters are the primary stewards of the movement.

2. Local leadership of Diocesan Cursillo Communities have primary pastoral responsibility (under the direction of the local bishop) for their communities.

3. National and International Leadership are to serve in capacities that are best handled by a centralized structure.

Implications – in my opinion…
