How to install the Yolngu keyboard onto your Mac computer

1. Go the Australian Society for Indigenous Languages website and

download the YM Mac.zip file onto your computer.

2. You can find the folder you downloaded here...

3. Please open that folder. ..

4. Then copy the Yolngu-J.keylayout file ...

5. OK. Then please go to ‘Computer’ from ‘Go’ at the top menu bar.

6. Choose ‘Macintosh HD’...

7. Choose ‘Library’...

8. Choose ‘Keyboard Layouts’, then paste the file you’ve just copied.

9. Now the Yolngu Keyboard file sits under the Keyboard Layouts!

10. Close those windows and go to ‘System Preferences’ from the Apple

icon...

11. Inside the International preferences click on Input menu. Scroll to the bottom where you should see the Yolngu-J keyboard. Ensure that the box is selected.

Selecting the other button and box as indicated will ensure that the keyboard you select will stay selected for all applications and display the name of the keyboard you're using in the menu bar.

12. Using the Keyboard: Go to the keyboard menu in menu bar and click on

the Yolngu-J keyboard as indicated below.

Now your Yolngu Matha Unicode keyboard should now be installed and

ready for use.
