What is this Twitter is most certainly a broadcasting tool.

You will see tweets roll in constantly as your numbers begin to grow, and you need manage that growth and understand how it works. It can be used to talk about a product for example, or report news or facts. You can post an important thought but, just like any other social media tool care must be taken with it. In our world, the world of Recruiting, I have found twitter to be a very valuable tool, if used purposefully and in the right way. Many Recruiters sadly do not use it?

Using Effectively The first thing you want to do is think about what you will be using

Your page for? (Personal, Work, and for Fun as an example) You can have several twitter pages and a good idea really…

You want to make the appearance relevant to you individually or your brand and you are your brand, and you are also working for a brand keep this in mind when creating your pages.

Twitter if worked everyday can grow exponentially; you can spend minutes a day on it.

Thoughtful tweeting is important how can I say the most in less time and convey my message

Use #’s and include twitter handles when you can @hiltonworldwide @TrubyHilton

Ethics and Risks using Twitter

Do’s • Make tweets relevant and fun

• Add pictures to help convey messages at times

• Use your snip tool rather than downloading pics to your lap top and be conscious about copyright

• Use Bitly https://bitly.com/ for URL strings

• Be interesting-don’t make it about you and what you need or want all the time?

• Like other people’s photos and posts it will get you popular and noticed

• Reply kindly to others posts (this will grow your stats)

• Follow relevant people or persons/businesses of interest.

• Be sweet and RTWT

Don'ts• Blast the same posts constantly be creative

• Post all text, that is boring and selfish share some fun i.e. pictures, videos etc.

• Say anything that you may want to delete later especially if you are co-branded (company and personal page together) Would your company approve?

• Share really personal stuff there are stalkers out there

• Forget your passwords it is hard to get anyone at twitter to help desk with you.

• Buy followers unless you are a rock star - No shortcuts!

Growing Organically

Careful buying followers- not a good idea.

- you will get 18+ sights(Not good!) and SEO marketing pages

- you will need to be careful who you follow too take a quick peek at their page, look at #’s

- if you happen to follow a trickster you can mute or block from settings wheel

- no one likes eggheads-I usually do not follow example

working your page everyday is the secret to success on twitter

Example of someone doing it right look at the numbers right and wrong

Branding your twitter pagesKeeping up appearances

Getting Organized with your efforts

• Use your lists please –a valuable tool virtually, no one uses

• You can make your lists public or private as a Recruiter, I would make private your collections. Ask me how?

Example below on how to create lists in your twitter

Optimizing your Time with Twitter

• Make it a habit to sign in and check your account everyday ( I spend about 20 minutes or so a day on here)

• Make 3-5 creative tweets a day if possible a few more

• Follow people back if relevant, that followed you (you do not have to follow everyone)

• Like some posts-be engaging reply to them

• Try to add about 30+ people that you target a day

• Use tools like unfollwers.com, bitly.com and there are tools you can use to automate your posts out there, but I prefer to make my own real time posts they are “authentic and up to the moment”

• Reply back to messages each day and be patient not everyone uses twitter like Recruiters’ or Marketing types.

• A good rule of thumb is for every 100 you follow 10 will follow back or FB that is my 10 to 1- ratio that works

• Numbers are important so build!!!

Have fun and reach out if you need help!
