§  No step of the process for getting an A-List Smile is more important than finding the right dental provider for you. Note that I didn’t say the most expensive, the nicest, or even the closest dental provider (these should not be the determining factors), only the right one – for you.

§  This may mean someone who “gets” you, who understands you, who makes you feel warm and fuzzy whenever you walk into his or her office. It may mean the dental provider with the most degrees, the fanciest office or the biggest staff. It may even mean someone in the next town over – or right next to your office building.


§  Like deciding what makes an A-List Smile or which products you’ll need to obtain it, choosing your dental provider is entirely personal; it’s also a difficult choice. You can’t simply open up the yellow pages, flip to “dentists” and pick the first listing you see. You’ll need to do a little – and in some cases a whole lot – of research first.

§  Fortunately, this handy list will give you plenty of places to start: §  Family, Friends and Focus Groups: Does your sister have a great smile?

How about your mother-in-law, your neighbor, your cousin or your best friend? Where did they get it? Don’t know? Why not ask? modern dental professionals have websites that not only explain the

various products and procedures they offer, but even let you know a

little bit more about them, personally speaking. You can also find

articles or opinions written by your prospective dental provider online, and many user boards offer critiques and testimonials of the provider

in question.


§  Offline Does Too: But don’t forget to continue your search offline as well. If you have managed to do a considerable amount of research

online, combine it with some offline “field trips,” if you will. For

instance, maybe you’re really in favor of a certain dental provider

because their office is very impressive. Great; super. Print their address

and drive there. Is it the same building, grounds and manicured lawns as they portrayed on their website? Sometimes people use stock

footage for their websites and you might find yourself in a less than

professional office building or strip mall. So be careful of doing all of

your research online; what you see isn’t always what you get.


§  The Better Business Bureau: As you start gathering names of dental professionals who might be best suited to give you your A-List Smile, be sure to “clear” them with the Better Business Bureau. Make sure that your dental provider of choice has a clean bill of health on the BBB website, www.bbb.org, to make sure that everyone on your list deserves to be there.

§  Keep a running list of the best dental providers in your area, based on your exhaustive research. Go down the list and compare/contrast the dental providers; make a chart and list all the procedures and products they offer. When your search is over, your dental provider should be at the top of this list.
