How to Create A Blog on Word Press

create a blog site. Students will gain knowledge on how to create a post to be seen

on word press. Students will gain knowledge on how to add a picture into their

post. Students will gain knowledge on adding tags/categories in their

post so people could search for it

Word Press

Word Press is a blog site that was first released in May of 2003. Word Press is one of the most used blogging systems on the web today. There are currently 61,484,444 word press sites world wide. Word press blogs are written in over 120 languages.

The good thing about word press is that it is free, and easy to sign up for.

So to sign up you are going to go to www.wordpress.com.

Once you go to the page you should see something like the picture on the left.

Once you get to this screen you are going to hit get started

To create your blog you will need an active email address, a username and password, and create your own blog address.

How To Sign Up

Now that you have created your blog the next step will be to create a post.

There are three ways to get to the create a new post page. The way I like to do it is by getting to my dashboard.

You get to my dashboard my hovering over your picture in the top left and clicking on you name.

You will get to the page that I have on the next slide. Once you get to that screen you will go to the side bar on the left

and find where it says post, and hover over post. Once hovering over post you will choose the second option of add new.

Another way is by clicking new post next to your picture

Once you have click new post a screen will pop up that gives you a space to add a title and write you blog.

At first I like to write the story, once I am done with the story I will reread it and come up with a title.

Once you finish your blog and create the title there are three more things to do, add picture, add a category, and add tags to the post

Adding a picture to your post is really simple

Right above where you wrote your post there will be a button on the left that says add media, you will click it and then you can select a file off your computer.

After selecting your file you will be able to select where in the post you want it, left, right, or center and also create a description for the picture

Categories and Tags

Adding a category will help organize your post. Once you added your picture to the post on the right hand side there is a section to add a category.

Click and category and create the category of your choosing

Adding a tag will make it so you blog shows up when people search for the tags. Like the way a YouTube video would

Right under where you added the category will be where you add the tag

You can add as may tags as you like, just make sure you do it one by one

So today we learned how to create a blog using word press. It is pretty simple once you get used to the site.

Again to sign up all you need is an email address, username, password, and create the blog address.
