How to copy a newspaper article & save it to your

computer.

1. First you need to open MS Word (also minimize this window)2. Next you need to open your browser (Firefox or MS Internet Explorer).3. Now go to the McCook Gazette home page: http://www.mccookgazette.com/4. From there you need to select “Days Gone By” to find only your articles.5. Now will see a full page of your published articles. 6. Take a look at all the articles returned that appear on the left hand side of the page.7. Click on the blue text to the right of each article’s picture.8. This will take you to the page where the whole article can be viewed. 9. Highlight the text you want to copy then do “edit” “copy” (or Ctr+C)10.Go to MS Word and past the text into a new blank page. (Ctr+V)11.Go to “file” then “save as” . Name the file what you want and make sure you

are saving it to the fold where you are saving your article files, then click “Save”.12.X out of that Word document and bring up a new blank page.13.Now you can go back to the Gazette web site and select another article to save.

Here is where you click on “OPINION” in the top menu.

Click on “Days Gone By” where the red arrow point to it.

Click on the blue link letters of the story name to the left of red arrow.

Highlight the text you want to copy. Start at the top right of the name of the article.

Pretend the gray highlighted text is blue

Go to your blank Word document and past your copied text into it.

This is where you save your new Word file in the folder that you are putting them in. Once your file is saved remember to X out of that document, open a new blank document then go back to the Gazette and start the process over again.
