Many presenters dread taking questions maybe that’s you
? ? ???
Some worry
they will get the question
from hell !
Some think they
won’t have the
the answer
But don’t worry
!
you can take
control
by using a few simple
tricks
Give a strict TIME-FRAME for questions
!
This helps focus their mind on the most crucial questions &
gives you the option to pick which questions to
spend the time on
Don’t include everything
!
!
!
if you leave some things out, they will have to ask,
and you will have manipulated some of the questions!
bottle !the!
baddies!
You don’t !have to!answer !every!
question
You have 3 key options for fielding questions
!
if it’s fully relevant - give a full answer if it’s partly relevant - give a brief answer you can promise to give more later or another time if it’s not relevant - don’t even go there! offer to examine the question & deal with it another time
? ? ???
if you don’t know the answer that’s fine!
!tell them you hadn’t planned to cover that,!
and that you would like to check some details,!and you will get back to them
Whatever you do
don’t give long tedious answers to every question
it will look like you enjoy the sound of your own voice!
Keep an eye on the clock
!
tell them !when time is running out!
!say “I can only take one more question!otherwise we will be running over time”
and finally - here’s another
great idea
Get a flip chart!!
As you receive questions write the first one halfway
down the sheet !
Then place the easy questions above it
!Place the harder questions
below it !
Then deal with them from the top downwards
!!
If you run out of time !you will never get to !
the hardest one!
So go on give it a try let us know
how you get on
