How To Compete In Established

MarketsFinding ways to beat big brands

Up against established competitors and struggling to get sales? If you’re working with a product or piece of information that is in a competitive niche, it can be daunting. The top competitors are seemingly on every major channel and dominating.

Up against established competitors and struggling to get sales?Amazon and Google are the most common platforms where brands can solidify their rankings and dominate sales. My company, Hiboost, works in the cell phone signal booster space. WeBoost is the dominant brand and has been an early adopter in the U.S.. We’ll walk through a strategy for beating WeBoost online.

Identifying opportunitiesFinding opportunities to dominate a space is important. While we’d love to focus on Amazon and Google, we’d be waiting a very long time to get to the top. We want to get to the top of a platform quickly and begin to dominate it.

Dominating a platformThe goal of dominating a platform has multiple benefits.

1.You own the conversation on that platform (e.g., NewEgg, Jet.com, Linkedin, etc). For anyone using that platform, you will likely get the sale/conversion.

2.If the platform you dominate becomes the next big thing, you’re in the best possible position. Imagine if you ranked well on Amazon 5 years ago and kept working to dominate the search results.

3.You get a very good understanding of the shoppers on the platform. Knowing your buyers allows you to tailor a marketing strategy to fit their buying habits.

Dominating multiple platformsOnce you are able to control one platform, move onto another one. The goal here is to find the most easily exploitable and best traffic driving platforms possible.

Dominating multiple platformsOwning your presence on multiple sites/platforms helps mitigate risk. Just like you want to diversify your investment portfolio, it’s prudent to diversify your sales channels online.
