How to Change Brake Pads
Step 1. Remove the Tire.Brake Caliper Brake Rotor

Step 2. Remove any retaining clips.
Note: Different vehicles will use different types of retaining clips or covers.
Step 3. Remove the pins holding the pads in place.
Step 4. Remove the old pads.
Note: If the pads cannot be removed then the caliper will have to be removed. See Step 5. If the pads can be removed then go to step 8 to install the new pads.
Step 5. Remove the caliper bolts.
Step 6. Remove the Caliper.
Important: Do not let the caliper hang from the brake line! Hook a wire through the caliper and hang it.
Step 7. Remove the old pads.
(Brake pad shims- help align the pads)
Step 8. Install the new pads.
Step 9. Reinstall the caliper onto the brake rotor.
Step 10. Align the pads and reinstall the pins.
Step 11. Reinstall the retaining clips.
Note: The order in which the clips and pins are reinstalled may differ from vehicle to vehicle.
Step 12. Reinstall the caliper bolts.
Step 13. Adjust the Squealer.
Note: Adjust the squealer so it will start to make noise when the pads wear down to 3-4mm or less.
Step 14. Reinstall the Tire.
