Prepare the 26-GAUGE galvanized sheet by tracing 2 circular patterns.

(1) LARGER: similar to the diameter of the soda bottle.

(2) SMALLER: 2mm smaller from the first circular pattern.

Carefully cut the inner circle of the galvanized sheet using

hammer and chisel to create a small hole.

Then carefully cut it with curved metal cutter.

Page 10: How to Build a Solar Bottle Bulb 3.0 (Latest 2013 Updated)

Cut and make small strips and bend it 45 degrees upward perpendicular

to the galvanized sheet. This will serve as the teeth that will

hold the bottle( Use a Curved Steel Cutter and not one for

straight sheet cutter to minimize leaks )

Using the cement filled bottle as a mold, run the galvanized sheet over the cement bottle once or

twice to set the fit.

Then you can start sanding the bottle to allow glue/sealant to stick better. Sand it diagonally, 2 inches

wide at 45 degree angle.

Apply SILICON or EPOXY sealant on a line around where the bottle will be sticking.

Put SILICON or EPOXY sealant 2mm wide on the upper and lower edge of the galvanized

sheet and smooth the glue in to prevent water leakage.

(DO NOT use a rubber, i.e. elastomeric , sealant because it will not hold correctly and cause

leaks.)

Put 4 bottle caps or 10 ml of bleach the fill the bottle with distilled water

all the way to the top.

To protect the bottle cap from cracking under the sun, apply sealant around the bottle opening and screw on the plastic bottle cap. Then, apply sealant to the outside of the bottle cap, then place a plastic tube (1 ¼

inch PVC pipe) on top of the bottle cap and apply sealant to the top opening

of the tube.

Use the larger circular pattern to trace and cut a

hole in the roof.

Page 17: How to Build a Solar Bottle Bulb 3.0 (Latest 2013 Updated)

Make sure the bottle fits well by inserting it into the hole.

Page 18: How to Build a Solar Bottle Bulb 3.0 (Latest 2013 Updated)

Put glue on the perimeter of the galvanized sheet and an inch outside the hole of the roof. Then place the bottle on the

roof.

Use a battery-powered drill to create 6 small holes on the galvanized sheet. Then immediately rivet the holes.

Page 20: How to Build a Solar Bottle Bulb 3.0 (Latest 2013 Updated)

To prevent water leakage, put rubber sealant at the top edge of the galvanized sheet then put a metal strip to overlap the top of the galvanized sheet. Drill and

rivet the strip in place.

Seal the bottle from the inside. Make sure the sealant is

smooth and that there are no air holes to prevent water

leakage.
