How To Bet The Dogs 101 - Southland Park

2
Pari-Mutuel Wagering The “greyt” thing about betting the dogs is that the majority of the money wagered goes right back into the hands of the bettors. The track, the state and the greyhound owners simply receive a straight percentage of the money wagered. The rest of the money is placed back into the pools and paid out proportionally to the winner(s). The number of people who correctly pick the winning dog(s) determine the odds, and therefore, the payoff amount. Have Any Questions? Do you still have questions on how to place a bet, how to use a self service teller machine, how to read the racing program or anything else racing related? Please consider attending a “Greyhound University” class (schedules vary, please see ad display on the “Greyhound University” wall) or feel free to ask any of our friendly associates in the “Guest Services” booth. It is located on our second floor Mezzanine level (where you buy your racing programs). We hope your experience at the races is fun, exciting (and hopefully profitable!). If there is anything else we can do to make your experience with us an enjoyable one, please do not hesitate to let one of us know. How to Place a Bet Once you decide what type of bet you want to make, and the dog(s) you wish to bet on, proceed to any mutuel teller to place your bet. When you get to the “teller”, you need to tell them: 1. What track you wish to bet on. (especially if different from Southland Park) 2. Which race number you want to bet on. (you can bet on any race in the performance at anytime until it runs) 3. What is the base amount of your bet. (such as $2, $1 or a dime) 4. What type of wager you want . (Win, Quiniela, etc) 5. The number (not the name) of the dog(s) you want to bet on. How To Bet The Dogs 101 For Example: I want to bet on Southland, race # 1. Give me a $ 2 Quiniela on numbers 1 and 7.

How To Bet The Dogs 101

For Example: I want to bet on

Southland, race #1. Give me a $2 Quiniela on numbers 1 and 7.

5. QUINIELA Bet You must pick at least two dogs you think will cross the finish line in the top two places. With this type of bet, the dogs can finish in either order, and you still have a winner! If you are right, you will get the “Quiniela” payoff amount. (Minimum bet - $1 per dog combination)

6. EXACTA Bet Basically the same type of bet as the “QUINIELA”, however you must pick the first two dogs across the finish line in “exact” order. If you are right, you will get the “Exacta” payoff amount. (Minimum bet - $3 for “straight bets” (those involving only two numbers) or $1 per betting combination as long as you have at least 3 combinations on the same ticket)

7. TRIFECTA Bet You must pick at least three dogs that you think will be the first three across the finish line. If you are right, you will get the “Trifecta” payoff amount. (Minimum bet - $2 for “straight bets” or $1 per dog combination as long as you have at least 2 combinations on the same ticket)

Main Types of “Exotic” Bets Offered 8. SUPERFECTA Bet You must pick at least

four dogs you think will be the first four across the finish line. If you are right, you will get the “Super-fecta” payoff amount.

(Minimum bet – 10 cents per dog combination minimum and additional amounts must be in multiples of a dime)

9 . BIG Q Bet Played only on the last two races of each performance, you must pick a “Quiniela” in the first of the two races this wager is played. If you are correct, you have what is known as an “exchange” ticket. Take that ticket to any teller, and pick a “Quiniela” again for the last race. If you pick both quinielas in a row, you will win the “BIG Q” payoff. (If nobody selects both quinielas in a row, then those who picked at least the first quiniela will share in the winnings). (Minimum bet - $2 per combination)

Main Types of Simple Bets Offered
