Eligibility Requirements
Option 1: Education + Experience Submit documentation to support education status High School diploma, Associate degree or equivalent At least 4,500 hours spent in the specialized area of
professional project risk management within the last five consecutive years
40 contact hours of formal education in the specialized area of project risk
Option 2: Formal PM Education Bachelor’s degree or global equivalent At least 3,000 hours spent in the specialized area of
professional project risk management within the last fiveconsecutive years

Eligibility Requirements - Education
Contact hours = actual amount of time a candidate spends receiving instruction in project management from following sources:
University/college academic and continuing education program
Courses or programs offered by training companies or consultants
Courses or programs offered by PMI component organizations (Chapter meetings and Self-Study (e.g. reading books) do not satisfy this requirement.)
Courses or programs offered by PMI Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.)
Courses or programs offered by employer/company-sponsored program
Courses or programs offered by distance-learning companies ending with a tutorial segment

One hundred seventy multiple choice questions, selected randomly so each exam is different
20 questions are considered pretest questions Four answer choices for each question Questions developed by PMI-RMP global work groups Three hours and half allowed to complete exam Can review and change answers before exiting exam Receive results immediately upon completion when
using a computer-based test

15-minute computer tutorial prior to exam Passing score is determined by a criterion-referenced
approach called the Modified Angoff Technique grade You receive a report detailing how you scored in each
process group and knowledge area Immediate test results using a computer-based test Paper/pencil exam results take weeks If you do not pass, you must begin the process again
Apply for certification re-test Pay an additional fee Re-take exam – three testing opportunities within year After third unsuccessful attempt, candidates must wait one
year before re-applying for PMI-RMP Credential and taking test

Certification Timeline
If a candidate successfully passes the PMI-RMP Examination he/she: is certified for a period of 3 years. must adhere to PMI’s Code of Professional Conduct.

PMI Appeals Procedure
The PMI-RPM Credential Program is administered and supervised by the PMI Certification Program Manager.
All challenges regarding actions of and by the PMI-RPM Credential Program are governed by the comprehensive and exclusive rules of the PMI Certification Governance Council’s Certification Appeal Procedures.
The appeal process is the only method to review all decisions made by the PMI Certification Department regarding applications, eligibility, examinations, test administration and results, and other application- or testing-related certification issues and/or challenges or complaints.
. Disciplinary decisions made by PMI regarding PMI certificants are
governed by and reviewed under a separate procedure, detailed in a separate PMI policy document entitled “PMI Certification Disciplinary Case Procedures.”

APPLICATION AUDIT
All eligible applications are subject to an audit
PMI will notify candidates whose applications will be audited
Notification will be via e-mail after eligibility notification is issued and payment of the exam fee is remitted
E-mail will provide detailed info on how to comply with terms of audit
Candidates will be asked to submit supporting documentation, such as copies of their diploma/global equivalent, signatures of their supervisor(s) or manager(s) from the project(s) documented on the Experience Verification Forms, or a copy of a certificate or a letter from the training institute(s) for each course submitted to meet the required contact hours of project management education
Upon successful completion of audit, candidates are permitted to take the PMI-RMP Examination

Test Site Overview
Examination Administration The PMI-RMP Examination is offered at testing centers around the
world. For a complete list of testing locations, visit the Prometric Web site at www.prometric.com/pmi for location near you
Special Examination Accommodations A candidate may request a modification to the RPM Examination
administration procedure due to disability, handicap and/or other conditions that may impair the candidate’s ability to take the test.
Candidates who are submitting an application via the Certification System will be able to document their need for special accommodations as part of the application process.
All candidates are required to submit, by fax or mail, supporting medical documentation to complete their request.

Scheduling ExamGetting Results
PMI sends applicants deemed eligible to sit for the RPM/PMP Examination scheduling notification & ATT eligibility letter
Scheduling notification directs candidates Prometric Web site (www.prometric.com/pmi) to schedule examination date
Upon completion computer-based examination, candidates are provided with a printed copy of their results
Candidates may access their test results via PMI’s Web-based Certification System 6-8 weeks after exam date. Certification System is accessible from Certification Program section of PMI’s Web site.
PMI reports candidate scores using a diagnostic score report, which includes not only pass/fail status, but also a percentage breakdown of their performance by chapter of the PMBOK® Guide – Third Edition.

PMI Rules
PMI-RMP Examination, answer sheets, worksheets, and/or any other test or test-related materials remain the sole and exclusive property of PMI
Materials are confidential and are not available for review by any person or agency for any reason
Examination scores are confidential and will not be disclosed to anyone other than the candidate without the candidate’s consent, unless directed by valid and lawful subpoena or court order

Test Site Requirements
Candidates who do not provide appropriate and/or matching identification will not be permitted to test and will be required to apply for re-examination and pay the re-examination fee in order to take the PMI-RMP Examination at a later date.
The following are acceptable forms of government issued identification: • Valid driver’s license • Valid military ID • Valid passport • Valid national identity card
The following are acceptable forms of secondary identification:• Valid employee ID • Valid credit card with signature • Valid bank (ATM) card
Please note that Library and Social Security cards are not acceptable forms of identification.
