SHARING THE PROFITSWITH YOUR PARTNER

STEP #4: __________ THE PROFITS WITH GOD YOUR PARTNER

In an equal partnership, how are the profits usually divided? 50/50, right?

God has always claimed only 10% of the profits, or a tithe.

The tithe is 10% of your gross (monthly/weekly) income (before taxes).

That is all the money that comes to you from any source. Whether salary, allowance, or gifts from abroad, any inheritance, or goods received.

A. TITHING __________ THE LAWGenesis 14:20 “And blessed be God Most High, who

delivered your enemies into your hand." Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.

Genesis 28:22 “and this stone that I have set up as a pillar will be God's house, and of all that you give me I will give you a tenth.“

Abraham and Jacob were both abundantly blessed by God. Gen. 13:2, 5, 6 ; Genesis 30:43

B. TITHING __________ THE TIME OF LAWThe Children of Israel, according to the law, were

required to give three tithes to the Lord:

The first tithe was for the Priests and the Levites, God's __________, who served in the temple day and night.

Numbers 18:21 "I give to the Levites all the tithes in Israel as their inheritance in return for the work they do while serving at the Tent of Meeting.”

2 Chronicles 31:5 “As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything.”

Nehemiah 10:37 "Moreover, we will bring to the storerooms of the house of our God, to the priests, the first of our ground meal, of our grain offerings, of the fruit of all our trees and of our new wine and oil. And we will bring a tithe of our crops to the Levites, for it is the Levites who collect the tithes in all the towns where we work.”

The second tithe was a yearly tithe of the harvest ____________. It was designated for expenses during feast days.

Deuteronomy 14:22-23 “Be sure to set aside a tenth of all that your fields produce each year. (23) Eat the tithe of your grain, new wine and oil, and the firstborn of your herds and flocks in the presence of the LORD your God at the place he will choose as a dwelling for his Name, so that you may learn to revere the LORD your God always.”

The third tithe was for the ______ and the _______. It was given once every three years.

Deuteronomy 14:28-29 At the end of every three years, bring all the tithes of that year's produce and store it in your towns, (29) so that the Levites (who have no allotment or inheritance of their

own) and the aliens, the fatherless and the widows who live in your towns may come and eat and be satisfied, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hands.

WHAT DOES GOD SAY ABOUT THE PERSON WHO WILL NOT TITHE?

Malachi 3:8-12 The curse comes because of _____________. Disobedience always brings a __________

(chastisement).

Deuteronomy 11:26-28 “See, I am setting before you today a blessing and a curse—(27) the blessing if you obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you today; (28) the curse if you disobey the commands of the LORD your God and turn from the way that I command you today by following other gods, which you have not known.”

Lord Jesus Christ ______ tithes and offeringsFirst: Jesus declared He came to ________ the Law

and the Prophets.

Matthew 5:17-18 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. (18) I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not

the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.

Second: Jesus, at the age of 12 years, attended the __________ at Jerusalem. The family gave their Festival Tithe which they used for expenses while in God's place of worship.

Luke 2:41-42 “Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover. (42) When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom.”

Third: Christ's enemies found no _______ in Him of which they might accuse Him.

Matthew 22: 19-21 “Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, (20) and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?" (21) "Caesar's," they replied. Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."

What was Jesus saying but, "pay your taxes; pay your tithe".

Fourth: He personally _________ and insisted that tithing was just as important as other moral laws.

Matthew 23:23 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices--mint, dill and cummin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law--

justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.

CHRISTIANS MUST FOLLOW JESUS

If we are to follow Jesus, that simply means that if He practiced the giving of the tithe, we must do the same.

In John 10:27

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me"

MORE BLESSINGS: in Malachi 3:9-12With the tenth given to Him, God promised the following blessings:

1. Curse removed (v. 9)2. Windows of heaven opened and blessings

poured with no more room to receive (v. 10)3. Devourers rebuked (v. 11)4. Testimony established (v. 12)5. Become a delightsome land (v. 12)
