Aim of the Course Background
Children may present with empyemas or develop pneumothoraces. It is then essential to be able to effectively place a chest drain. Children may present severely ill requiring a venous central line and delay of placement can jeopardise the resuscitation of these patients.
Training approachShort lectures will be given followed by hands-on training through part-task trainers and simulation. Training will be delivered by consultants with extensive experience.Information on pain relief and sedatives will equally be given.The information will be in accordance with National Guidelines.
