Given that the FAIR-K is an assessment of reading in English, it would be inappropriate to translate the directions given
to the student.

Overview
33
ECHOS™ is an ongoing, embedded assessment or an observational
assessment that is a natural part of the ongoing activity in the classroom.
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview What is the ECHOS™?
34
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview How is the ECHOS™ administered?
Teachers observe students to determine what they
know and are able to do and record their
observations (on the FLKRS Class Record Form).
35
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Administration Requirements
ECHOS™ should be completed by a teacher, trained in its administration.
Kindergarten teachers may NOT administer the ECHOS™ to students
they taught in VPK.
36
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Administration Accommodations
For students with disabilities and English Language Learners
(ELLs), a flexible setting that is quieter than the regular classroom
should be considered.
37
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Frequency of Demonstration
The behaviors and skills prescribed in each benchmark need to be observed only once
for the appropriate indicator to be entered.
38
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Planning for Observations
Remember the behaviors and skills you want to observe.
Observe the behaviors in context.Incidental observationsPlanned observations
39
FLKRS/ECHOS™ Overview Planning for Observations
With careful planning, it is easily possible to complete FLKRS/ECHOS™ for a class of
students within the first 30 school days, using various types of class activities.

FLKRS/K-2 EST Overview Security
• The K-2 Application is a secure site that uses the same encryption as a financial institution.
• An automatic timeout will occur if there is no activity for 20 minutes.
• The site’s security settings can be confirmed by the appearance of a padlock icon in the address bar (Internet Explorer), in the browser’s footer (Firefox), and a padlock icon in the top right of the browser (Safari).
