How the Lieutenants won the battle, but the
Noncommissioned Officers won the war.
Once upon a time, there lived some NCO’s who had a “Cool
Guys” office.
A small group of LT’s felt a need to violate the sanctity of the
NCO’s domain by changing the sign to the “Cool Guys” office.
The NCO’s, being “Cool Guys” and all, let this first offense go by without
retribution. Unfortunately, the unruly LT’s persisted in their disrespect for the
NCO’s office.
In search of a solution to this continuing problem, the NCO’s decided to pay a visit the LT’s to discuss their
breach of social etiquette.
When the NCO’s arrived at the LT’s office, they found that no one was
home. It didn’t take them long to find the reason for the young LT’s
uncivilized behavior.
The LT’s were obviously jealous because their office lacked the flair and
style that the NCO’s had given the“Cool Guys” office.
The LT’s office was cold and sterile, without any sense of the personality or warmth.
The NCO’s desperately wanted the LT’s to feel as at home in their office as they would in
their own homes.
Working quickly -- while the LT’s were away -- the NCO’s developed a
plan to update the office so the junior officers would feel more
welcome.
The biggest problem was determining what environment the LT’s would enjoy the most.
After careful consideration -- and a quick consultation with some
interior decorators – the NCO’s developed the perfect new office
for these hyper-active lieutenants. They had to act quickly to prevent any future hostile activities from
occurring, and they where sure the LT’s would be pleased when they
returned.
It was proven again that mature experience and creativity will overcome
zeal and youthful inexperience every time.
