Page 2: How Reflex Works

What is reflex?• Reflex is involuntary fast reaction by our

nervous systems.

• They active our muscles in situations where our brain would take too long to react and protecting us from external danger

Purpose/functions

2 Kinds of body movements• VOLUNTARY MOVEMENT: You realized it

then you do it.• INVOLUNTARY MOVEMENT: You do it

then you realize it.

Page 4: How Reflex Works

Voluntary movement• Voluntary movements occur in response to

messages from the brain, for example turning the button of the stove.

Involuntary movement• An automatic action. The body moves in

response to stimulus.

Involuntary movements

• And this is carried out even before the brain has become aware of it

Summarize• How reflex works:

• It received stimulus from outside of our body.• The stimulus signal then transmitted to spinal

cord via sensory neuron• Spinal cord then send back signal to the

muscle(via motor neuron) to move automatically.

• At the same time spinal cord send signal to the brain to be processed, and finally we realize our reflex movements
