How to Use ISO 9001 to Reducethe Risk From Sarbanes-OxleyJoin us in Milwaukee on May 4, 2005, to learn from four experts on Sarbanes-Oxley.

It’s what’s behind the numbers that makes the front page.

Without a doubt, the Sarbanes-Oxley Law (SOX) is the singlemost important piece of legislation affecting corporate governance, financial disclosure, and the practice of public accounting sincethe U.S. securities laws of the early 1930s. Passed in responseto recent corporate financial scandals (at Enron, WorldCom,and other organizations, which led to the passage of the newregulations) the CEOs and CFOs of public companies must nowcertify their organization’s financial statements.

The risks addressed by these regulations include: an organization’shighly outsourced supply chains, government-mandated environ-mental requirements, the effects of homeland security on thetimely supply of materials, and the delivery of finished product. The regulations mandate a system of internal controls to providefor the management of these risks. Failure to comply may meancivil suits or even jail time.

This one-day workshop will explain how compliance with theSarbanes-Oxley Law can be supported by the effective managementand auditing required by QMS and EMS systems. It will showhow ISO 9001: 2000 (and ISO 14001:2004) support the systemof internal controls mandated by the regulations, and how QMSand EMS audits can be combined with internal financial auditsto reduce the risks to an organization.

Case studies will be presented and a panel discussion will closethe workshop.
