Transcript of How K'NEX are made infographic
The toy designers work with factory engineers to develop a plastic injection mold to produce the
K’NEX part.
A high-volume production steel mold is built and tested. It takes approx.
1000 hours to make a K’NEX mold.
We are committed to environmental sustainability. Our manufacturing process
minimizes packaging, transportation costs, waste, water consumption and energy.
We conserve 150 tons of cardboard per year, enough to fill 3000 cubic yards of landfill space or 3 football fields about a foot deep!
Since 1992, The Rodon Group has manufactured K’NEX pieces in their Hatfield, PA facility.
How AreK’NEX® Parts Made?
K’NEX is the only building toy company in the world that manufactures
95% of its components in the United States.
With over 105 plastic injection molding presses in
the 125,000 sq. ft. facility, The Rodon Group is one of the largest family-owned and operated injection molders in the U.S.
Since 1992, Rodon has manufactured over
31 BILLIONK’NEX parts!!
When K’NEX began in 1992, there were
22 pieces in 11 colors.
Today there are approximately
850 pieces in 91 colors using 22 different resins.
Once the mold is cooled, the pieces are ejected from the mold.
