Measure length
Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
Length is one property of matter that can be measured.
Length is the distance from one end of an object to the other end.
To measure length, you can use

You can use these lengths to compare objects.For example, you can measure and compare the length of a pillbug and a beetle to determine which one is longer.
The basic metric unit of length is the meter (m). Shorter lengths are measured in centimeters (cm) or millimeters (mm). There are 100cm in a meter. There are 1000mm in a meter.
Longer distances are measured in kilometers (km). There are 1000m in a kilometer.
