Synopsis…This story is about a man who met his doppelganger; A ghostly

double of a living person. John Taylor was an English computer programmer who worked in Budapest, Hungary, and lived there with his wife, Andrea and daughter, Kati.

He was walking home from work one day when he bumped into his doppelganger. John believed the doppelganger had come to give him a message. John did some research and found that a man, with a name similar to him, had lived in that area many years ago along with a wife and daughter – whose names were also Andrea and Kati.

The person's wife and daughter were killed, lured in a tragedy. The timely warning from John's doppelganger saved John's wife and daughter from a similar fate.

The Characters

A 34 year old man. Nearly 2 meters tall Lives and works in Budapest, Hungary

John Taylor

John’s wife. A lovely women with brown hair and blue eyes.

Teaches Hungarian Is forced to leave her teaching job. She helps out Zsolt’s café by then.

Tries to understand and support her husband Becomes frustrated when her husband becomes too preoccupied with his double.

A good and caring mother to Kati. Realizes that John’s doppelganger has saved her and her child.

Andrea

The only child of John and Andrea Is born about a year after her father met his doppelganger

Is loved and doted by her parents Is rescued by her father’s doppelganger from the explosion

Kati

John Taylor’s doppelganger Used to live at 7 Felka Utca near John’s apartment.

Shares the same birthdate as John. His wife and child has the same name as John’s wife and child. His wife and child was killed on 18 January 1945 when a bomb hit the cellar where his wife worked that is

Zsolt’s cellar. Dies in 1856 a broken man.

Is seen by John on the same street. Appears before John to warn him of the impending danger to his wife and child. Saves Andrea and Kati’s life on January when there is an explosion at the shop

Janos Szabo (DOPPELGANGER)

A below-ground café owner in Gergely utca. First meets John when he came in looking for his doppelganger.

Tells John he has never seen the man. John comes to his café quiet frequently after that

Later offers Andrea a job at the café. Happy when Andrea is able to help improve his business

Asks Andrea to come in and help out at the café on the day of the explosion.

Zsolt

John’s closest friends at school Works as a journalist and so travels a lot

Meets Paul during his Christmas vacation in England after many years John confides in him about meeting his doppelganger

Tells John that he has read about doppelganger and that they always appear to warn its owner of impending danger.

Chapter 7 : Doppelganger

1) John’s life goes back to normal after that.

2) He does not have the strange dreams any more.

3) One day Andrea comes home and announce that she is pregnant.

They are overjoyed.

4) The next day, she loses her job teaching fifteen hours a week at the bank

John tells Zsolt, the café owner, about Andrea’s predicament

“I can get used to some job vacancies here in my café,But it was not much a job for an intelligent lady like your wife.”

Zsolt

“Don’t worry. I’ll tell Andrea about your offer. She’ll be glad.”

John

6) He offers a job to Andrea and she accepts it.

7) The business at the café soon improves.

5) Coincidentally, Zsolt is looking for someone to help him at the café. He feels that it needs a woman’s touch.

8) One day, John reads about life after death.

He comes across the word ‘doppelganger’.

Doppelganger; a German word for a ghostly double of a living person.

9) A doppelganger usually comes to give a message about danger or offer advice. It can only be seen by its owner.

10) But it can also be seen by someone close if it has an important message.

John believes he has seen his doppelganger but wonders why.

John shows Andrea the page from the book

“Well, it sounds like it, doesn’t it?.”

John

“And so is this what you think you saw?”

Chapter 8 : A Holiday

1) On 16th September, the baby is born. They name her Kati.

1) John and Andrea decide to celebrate Christmas in England with John’s parents.

3) Everyone is happy, especially with the new baby.

4) For some time, John forgets his doppelganger.

Paul is one of his closest friend back at school

5) That night, John meets an old friend, Paul Harris, a journalist…

“There was a story about the same thing- doppelgangers,and people meeting themselves- in one of the magazines I write for.”

Paul

“Well that’s good news,I thought I was going crazy or something!”

John

John confides in him about meeting his doppelganger.

But Paul advises John to be careful because bad things have happened to them after that.

7) He wonders what message his doppelganger

has for him

6) After hearing this, John feels better.

1) John and Andrea then spend New Year with Andrea’s family in the Hungarian countryside.

John keeps on thinking about his doppelganger

Andrea gets annoyed and tells him to pay more attention to his family.

“I tried to, Andrea.”

“I want a man who looks after his family, talks to his wife and plays with his daughter. I don’t want someone who sits around thehouse all day looking into space.”

Chapter 9 : The Date Gets Closer Again

1) John does not dream about the man since Kati was born. But from 11th January, he starts having the dream again.

He is afraid and stays awake.

2 ) John checks his diary and finds out that he met himself on Monday 18th January the previous year.

3) The next day, he tells Andrea that he dreamt of the man again and that the date, 18th January is very important.

3) But Andrea gets angry because she thinks he is irresponsible!

Kati cries like she understands that her father and mother is unhappy

4) On Friday, 16th January, John asks Andrea to go to Felka Utca on 18th January with him.

“Andrea, I need you to come with me.I need to know what you see,”

…“Alright. But this will be the last.”

That night, John has the same dream again.
