How Flash can help in your animating
endeavours?
Designers are actually in love with Flash owing to many reasons. It allows users to add
elements of interactivity and motions to almost anything. Let us analyse the role Flash can
play in adding animation to the symbols through best practices. The below tips can really be
helpful.
FPS
FPS in Flash older versions was 12 and now it has reached 24. This is perhaps because Flash
is now a highly preferred mode for playing videos on internet. The player has now improved
greatly and huge data volumes can be rendered without affecting quality.
Tweening
Tweening (shortened term for betweening) is the procedure of creating interim frames in the
middle of 2 key frames. The animations frame rate is determined by the number of frames
that go in between 2 key frames. Faster movement means lesser tween frames.
Two types of tweening are there- Shape tweening and Motion tweening. In the former, you
start with one shape and transform it to another. If both the shapes are not that complex, you
can do the process with ease. With Motion tweening, you can bring After Effects to the
objects. In latest versions of Flash, you can apply motion not just on timeline but also on a
selected symbol.
Easing
Picture this: You are animating a ball falling on the ground. The ball will bounce at an even
pace and this is what the default setting is done for. You don’t want this to happen because it
is not like so in the real life. When a ball falls on ground, it initially bounces and the speed
and distance travelled by the bounce decreases.
With easing, this issue can be eliminated. You can accelerate and decelerate as you wish; you
don’t even have to tweak the positions for every frame manually.
Swift & stress-free pseudo-3D animation
Using Flash 3D animation is also feasible. There is a new 3D rotation tool that you see with
motion editor. It helps you to rotate objects in three dimensions. After selecting the tool,
select the concerned object and simultaneously click and drag one among the three lines that
you will see. The three colour lines represent 3 axis. Red is for X, green is for Y and blue is
for Z axis. You can manipulate these to get the desired 3D effects.
If the above Flash animations tips are used effectively, great results are assured. For
