How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts? I feel that my main product and ancillary texts are highly effective due to the constant use of my brand logo and continuous colour scheme used throughout all of my products. Due to the colours used on Props Skate Store’s logo being primarily blue, I ensured that my documentary, double-page spread and advert included blue in various areas. For example, in my double-page spread – the colours I have used are almost entirely blue, including the pull-quote and page banner. The brand logo is also a large part of building the effectiveness of my products – I have ensured that I have used it in various different places on all of my texts and areas of my documentary. To promote my documentary, using the logo on all of my products was essential to get the name out to the public. For example, I have used it almost immediately in my film in the introductory scene and in various areas of my ancillary texts such as using it as the header on my double-page spread and have included it in my newspaper advert to further push the production.

Incorporating my colour scheme into the final product enforced the brand recognition of No Comply and made the combination of my products more effective. By using a constant house-style throughout, the pieces feel relevant to one another and are related to each other in ways beyond the use of the logo. The use of blue and white also promote a positive and colourful theme and metaphorically symbolises a clear summer day often seen picture in imagery related to skateboarding. Through research, I noticed various elaborate trends often related to skating (such as tie-dye clothing and baggy t-shirts) and therefore the style can be seen as very relaxed and bright. As this style is commonly witnessed throughout the skateboarding scene, I decided that a blue and contrasting white colour scheme would fit the image well.

Audience awareness was also present throughout all of my products because of my use of language that I have included. For example, my advert will be shown in the Metro newspaper and after analysing the audience of this product I realised that the readers would be of a very broad age range, meaning that the language had to be targeted and understood by all ages - Metro state that their audience age ranges from young to old, naming them urbanites. As my products are targeted at all ages and interests, I had to write the article and advert in a similar or identical style to the documentary to follow a continuous writing style throughout all of my products. I have used skateboarding language (describing tricks) in small measures in order to prevent confusion to the reader, although the minimal skating terms that I have used have been placed to make them curious as to what it means and hopefully persuade them into watching the documentary.
