How effective is the combination of your main product and the ancillary texts?

Image ChoiceFor all of my pieces; the digipak, the website and the main production, Ed Findley is clearly the main feature. Being the artist this is only natural, as he should be the main focus and because he is a primarily acoustic cover artist I tried to incorporate his indie image with a broken acoustic guitar, therefore it features on the website and the digipak and he uses an acoustic guitar in the music video. The main feature is also on my main production piece, I constantly reinforce his artist name and the album in question. All of the pieces work for the selected genre I chose, as they all relate to music videos in some way and are all revolving around the indie/alternate rock genre. Right from the get-go all three pieces let the auidence know, who the artist is, what he does and his style which I feel is very important as after researching the target audience (which is a very niche one) they need to know whether its appealing to them as quickly as possible.ThemeThe whole production focuses on deception and miscommunication, in the music video, Ed picks up the wrong signals from a girl that shes into him when she isnt but remedys his actions towards the end as the meaning is then clear and out in the open. In the digipak especially (as I had more creative freedom) I tried to keep up the theme of illusion and clarity as two contrasts, I had the outer covers as warped paintings of the actual pictures which were on the inside of the digipak. This feeling of having a deep meaning behind the artist or a message appeals to an indie audience and so this is why I adapted it to my production. Even in the website however I kept the theme of the Smoke Screen with the back ground imagery and even reinforced the indie image of the guitar on the home page too. I made sure to keep in the conventions I analysed into my production throughout the ancillarys as well so that it keeps up the consistency of the indie style.ConclusionIn conclusion then, I would say that my main production and the two ancillary pieces compliment each other very well and are an effective combination together. They carry across the conventions of the genre and Ive used the research and knowledge of other successful indie rock bands to base this on replicating the techniques they use in a similar manner. The two ancillarys work well together too, as they clearly carry the same themes but they also compare well with the main production if not more so as they generate the same feel and consistency of the genre.
