How did you use new media technologies in the construction, research, planning and

evaluation stages?

Final Cut Pro • This is a programme from apple that we used to upload and edit or film on. • It was probably the most important piece of software we used throughout

the making of our film. • The software at first was very confusing to use as there are lots of different

icons and it is difficult to tell what some of them do, however after learning what the basic tools where and how to use them it was relatively easy to navigate around and use.

• The main tool we used was the cut tool, this was used to discard unwanted film and make our scenes and the right length and clean flowing into the next ones.

• Another edit we did on final cut pro was to put our footage into black and white and put red filters over certain shots.

• I feel that we made the most of the tools available on final cut pro and this resulted in a professional looking film.

GarageBand• Garageband another software from apple used to create

soundtracks and sound effects that we used on our film and film trailers.

• Again this was a software I had never used before but I found it very easy to use and found some of the pre-recorded sounds very useful particularly for the opening scenes of the film and throughout my film trailer.

• It was also easy to record your own sounds on and add these to the film as you just had to click a button to record.

• Sounds could be layered to create an interesting sound that created suspense and tension and this worked perfectly with our film.

• I found it was very easy to use and enjoyed experimenting with new sounds on the programme.

Photoshop • Photoshop is a programme I have used before to edit photos and

various other things so I already had a slight knowledge of the basic tools.

• I used Photoshop to create my film poster, using the magic eraser tool and the gradient tool to edit the colour.

• I enjoyed using Photoshop as I made my image have more impact and look professional on a film poster.

• I also added all of the text on Photoshop and found this easy to do although I had to experiment with size a lot.

• Photoshop made it quick and easy to add things such as a film certificate and a magazine rating quickly yet still looking professional.

Blogger

• This is a great website that allows you to create your own weblogs for free.

• This was a useful took during the planning of the film as it was somewhere to present all of our research and planning.

• It is a very simple, quick and easy site to use and navigate around.

• Using blogger I have been able to post regular updates during the film production.

• I have done this as blog posts, links and by embedding youtube videos or work from other websites such as prezi and slideshare.

Prezi

• Prezi’s are great as they are a visual, interactive presentation.

• They are easy to use and prezi supplies a wide range of templates depending on what your presentation is based on.

• You are able to upload images, videos and sound on to these which I found useful when planning the film.

• You can create a story/mood bored which people can look round interactively rather than just reading a page of writing.

• I really enjoy using prezi and find it very quick to uplaod.

Slide Share

• This is a site which allows you to upload your power point presentations online and onto your blogs.

• It is a fast and simple way to present your work and is how this evaluation question will be presented!

• It is able to be viewed by a wide rage of people on the internet and can be put on to my blog simply by pasting the embed code.

YouTube

• We used YouTube to upload our film for everyone to see.

• We also used YouTube to upload our film pitch and audience feedback.

• YouTube is a great site as it allows people to watch, share, like or dislike with a click of a button.

• It was also very easy to embed our film onto my blog once it was uploaded, this way I could present my film along side the rest of planning.
