How did you use media technologies in the

construction and research, planning and evaluation

stages?

Research and planning When researching the topic for our documentary it was essential that we gathered together as much information as possible about the subject of education, universities and employment. We also had to gather information about the target audience as well as information about the codes and conventions of documentaries. When researching documentaries we also watched some others to use as examples such as; fairy job mother and Supersize me. Planning included making a filming schedule in which

we decided when we would film where, what and who. We also had to arrange our formal interviews; We emailed Emma Hurste and sent a letter to Hilary Hargrave requesting an interview and arranging a time.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Research and planning (ancillary tasks) For our article; we used magazines we already had and the

internet to look at the conventions of these articles. And then went on to design the layout for our article.

When researching for our radio trail we listened to other radio trailers to get an idea of length, music and content and then drafted up a script and used garage band to create a music to be played.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

After we had done all our research and planning we condensed our notes and presented them all ready to put on the blog. In order to do this we used; Microsoft word, PowerPoint, Scribd and Slideshare.

How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?

Documentary When constructing our documentary the first and

technology we needed was our camera which we used to film and take still images. The camera was a vital part of the developing of our documentary was also used for the images in our magazine and to record the audio for our radio trailer

Once we had done all our filming for the documentary etc. we then used the macs, specifically final cut express to view our clips and edit them adding in sound, transitions and adjusting the images. We used in design to create our magazine double page spread and garage band to create our music for radio trailer and add in and edit voice over clips and also extracts from the documentary.

Here we could preview the clip we were working on at any given time

We could use these tools to edit our clips – the main tool we used was the cutting, so we could cut unwanted parts out.This is where

we could add in clips and move them around both audio and visual.

We used these transitions in our documentary to make clips flow together nicely.
