• First the bill is introduced to either the House or the Senate
• Next, it is referred to a committee or subcommittee.
• Hearings and studies take place.• Reported by the committee. • Debated on the floor, and voted.• From here, it is decided if it will be sent to the
President, or returned for revisal's, or thrown out.

What you will do• Students will break up into
small groups.• Each group will come up with
an issue they want to make into a bill.
• Students will write up some details as to why they think this bill will be beneficial.– On a piece of paper
• Students will then debate their bills on the “floor” with their classmates on the pros and cons of their bill.
Some ideas: School Uniform, School Start time and end time, allowed to wear hats in school, free pizza on Fridays, no bullying,

1 PM• Explain why this bill would be beneficial as a
law.• Pros: • Students have more time for homework,
afterschool activities, or jobs, or leave school earlier.
• Cons: You classmates will challenge you with possible cons
