Subjects Taught: Advanced Mathematical Decision Making and Math of Finance
College Attended: Campbell University, 2001-2005, B.S. Business Administration
College Soccer: 4 year starter at Campbell University. Played Striker and Left Midfielder. Two time “Top Ten” in points for the Atlantic Sun Conference. Led team in goals Freshman year. Member of the All-Freshman team, All-Conference, Jim McVeigh Award winner, Outstanding Senior award winner.
High School Soccer: First 8th grader to start on a Varsity soccer team in the state of New York (1997). Team Leader in goals and points for 3 years and assists for 2 years. Was a member of the All-Conference team every year. Player of the year twice.
My favorite moment Playing: My first college game as a freshman, I scored 2 goals against UNC-Wilmington in the first half. At halftime, I sat down in the locker room and just took it all in as the memories of how I got to this moment came flooding in. The years of practices and hundreds of games, miles of "road trips" going to tournaments, all of the work and sweat and countless hours playing in the yard with my sister had all led to this moment and it was almost overwhelming to realize I belonged on that field. I was so happy and I knew my parents were proud of me.
Favorite Moment Coaching: My second year at HOCO, standing at midfield at West Georgia stadium for the State Championship Title game and shaking the hands of my boys as the starting lineups were announced. In a sport historically dominated by big city Atlanta clubs and high schools, I was so proud of these boys from middle Georgia for getting to this game. We had accomplished something together that had never been done before by a team from our region and it was a moment that won't ever be re-created and can only be bested when this year‘s team wins it all.
Comments on the season: The girls are very young and will learn a lot coming together this year. Lizzie and Jessica are two of the most talented players to ever come out of this area. The group has the hardest schedule the Varsity girls have ever had and they will certainly be battle tested. The key this year is to learn from the experiences and limit mistakes in the back. The building blocks are there to win a Region title this year. Last year's loss at Pope High School was a tough one as we were matched up with the toughest girl’s region in the state, but we didn't lose many seniors and the experience gained for our 7 starting freshman and sophomores was invaluable.
The boys team has the opposite problem. Starting 7 or 8 Seniors, the upper classmen on this team have been to 2 straight State Finals. There is no question how good this team is, the only concern is managing our own expectations. No one is giving us a pass back to the State Finals again and this team will have to stay sharp and razor-focused against a very tough schedule. This team is special to me because these Seniors represent MY first true Senior class - kids that I have coached since they were Freshmen. They have been a huge part of the most successful program to ever come out of this area and they carry a lot of pressure into this season. I know they will play with the heart of Champions.
