Supported Housing DevelopmentWhat services do we provide?

Equipment generally means small items such as hand rails, lever taps, key safes and stair rails. Tenants can approach us directly for the provision of such items. Alternatively you may contact the Council’s Occupational Therapy services via 0121 303 1234 to ask for these items to be provided.

Adaptations are bigger alterations and include items such as level access showers, stair lifts and ramps. Your eligibility for adaptations will always be determined through an assessment via the City Council’s Occupational Therapy services.

Equipment and Adaptations

We aim to support tenants with long term health conditions to live in their own homes independently for as long as possible, through the provision of equipment and adaptations.

What Accommodation does the Supported Housing Team Provide?

Christopher Taylor Court, Rowheath and RosefieldsThese are sheltered housing schemes for people over the age of 60. They are situated in Bournville, Kings Norton and on the edge of Northfield. Each scheme provides convenient and comfortable individual apartments for rent, in settings which enable residents to come and go as they please. The schemes also provide security, choice and independence where residents can benefit from the

encouragement and support, as required, of an on-site Scheme Manager. The schemes offer residents an opportunity to make friends and share a wider social life through the use of the communal lounge and the many activities provided for the benefit of all the residents.

Learning Disability Care HomesWe operate two small specialist residential homes for adults with learning disabilities. We have a ‘needs led’ approach which aims to provide high quality, person-centred care to each resident.

The HoldingsThis is a project for young people leaving care, primarily aged between 16 and 18. Nine flats provide accommodation and support, as a stepping stone between care and total independence. The project staff will assist, support and facilitate the transition of the young people to full independence.
