Instructions to WagonSuperintendents

Wagon Superintendents must watch closely the inter-ests of the Company, and see that customers are not al-lowed to buy more than they can pay for.They must assist agents as much as possible, givingthem full information and helping them in making Sales.New Agents must be carefully instructed, and given asmany "pointers" as possible. Any neglect in this matter

should be reported to manager.They must always carry a good assortment of goodsand take their wagons only into good territory, as di-

rected by manager.They must "pull," "exchange" or fix up" promptlyany and all leases as directed by manager.Wagon Superintendent's most important duty is toverify all Leases as soon as made, accepting nothing but

good, clean business.He must pass on the following points in verifying eachLease:Is the customer all right and good for the amount of

the Lease?Is the Price, Down Payment and Weekly Payment cor-

rect; and understood by customer?Is the Lease filled in completely, and properly signed

(see Rule 7) and name and address written plainly?If "O. K." sign lease and customers duplicate in spaceprovided for same which will indicate that the Lease, in

your estimation, is all right.Tell the customer as nearly as possible when the Col-

lector will call and to have the money ready.But, if the Lease is not a good one, or customer already

has all she can keep up payment on, take back the goods,returning to Customer the amount of money actuallypaidwhich you should at once demand and recover fromAgent.

Sales wagons must be at store each morning at 7o'clock.Wagon Superintendents will be held strictly responsible

for bad business accepted by them in violation of ourrules; also for loss caused by agents overloading custom-ers.

RulesRule 1. All goods on check to Agents and Wagon Su-

perintendents must be returned to store each day and ondemand at any hour.Rule 2. Agents are responsible in every way for allgoods leased, until leases are verified to the satisfaction

of Manager, and until one collection is received fromlessee direct by regular collector.

Rule 3. All goods must be leased at the prices andterms as described in Agents' Price List.Rule 4. No goods to be rented in barred districts, orto Negroes, Italians or Chinese; to single persons or any

irresponsible partiesthe Manager alone to be the judge.Rule 5. Only one article can be sold on a lease ex-

cepting that combinations of goods to value of $13.00 onlycan go on one Lease.Rule 6. Agents must turn over to Wagon Superin-

tendent at once all Sales and Leases, together with anyand all money due the office, as soon as sale is made.Rule 7. Agents must fill in all Leases carefully and

have customer sign her husband's namefor instance,have her sign Mrs. John Nelson, rather than Mrs. JaneNelson, and enter husband's occupation and business ad-dress.Rule 8. Agents will not be allowed to "Plant" or leave

goods on approval or sell more goods to customers whoare delinquent on other bills or have all they can payfor.Rule 9. .Agents will be obliged to "pull" goods, "ex-change" and "fix up" sales when requested to do so byManager.Rule 10. Collector will investigate, and also verify all

leases on his first call. If leases are not satisfactory tocollector, he will return money paid and bring goods tostore, charging agent with the amount of money returnedand any expense we may have been to in recoveringgoods.Rule 11. Agents are obliged to Re-Lease or Re-Sell

their own returns when so ordered by manager.
