As beautiful as the most precious pearl

The freshness of your breeze that gently caresses
Above the gentle wave of blue waters
I smell your perfumed scent

Farewell for just awhile
We're parting with a smile
Dreams will keep me near
you
Farewell for just awhile
It's time for us to say
Farewell for just awhile
For just a little while
So let's be thankful
That we're parting with a
smile
It's easy when you smile
I'll miss you so
But dreams will keep me
near you, I know
We'll meet again
Farewell for just awhile
For just a little while
Farewell for just awhile
Farewell for just awhile

Here is a popular Tahitian song that’s a little more challenging. It is in the Key of C,and I used the different chord inversions discussed earlier to come up with a melodyversion. It’s not exactly like the original played by the Tahitian group Te Ava Piti, but itwas a good exercise to find the melody notes and figure out what chord inversion touse. See below for videos playing the melody part of the song as well as the entiresong with a melody break in the middle.

Additional Verses (from wikipedia)
Whatiwhati taku pene, kua pau aku pepa
Ko taku aroha, mau tonu ana e.

But my love for you endures, and remains forevermore.
E kore te aroha, e maroke i te rā
Mākūkū tonu i aku roimata e.
The sun's hot sheen, won't scorch my love,
Being kept evergreen, by the falling of my tears.

Love is like water continually bubbling up a river that will keep flowing from within the very seat of the emotions.
From a very deep source it will keep on rising
an ebb tide an incoming tide a forceful tide a living tide a full tide.

Hurt me. I heard my friend/beloved was saying hurting things about me . Father, mother what wrong have I done? My tears are falling. I cry at night. Why my friend/beloved? Father, mother this is why deep inside I ache hearing those hurting words. It is as if my soft skin was pierced again and again by my friend/beloved. So hurt.

God of truth, you are the ruler of our country. Please listen to our voices as we call to you, protect and guide us and give us your crown of truth so we can be successful and so that love and peace will rule forever over our beloved country.
"Te Atua mou e" ("God is Truth") is the national anthem of the Cook Islands. It was
adopted in 1982, replacing the previous New Zealand anthem "God Defend New
Zealand".
The music is by Sir Tom Davis, then Prime Minister of the Cook Islands. The words are
by his wife, Pa Tepaeru Terito Ariki Lady Davis.

Fragrant flower at Ahurai (place), Made wet by the dew
of Hau’iti,
In the night time.
Fragrant flower from Fanatea (in Ahurai)
Picked by the bird from the sky
From the far heavens,
In the softness of the morning.
Fragrant flower buds made into a wreath,
By the young girls.
A fragrant crown for the beautiful woman,
Welcoming her
To dance,
to dance!

Hawaiian and Tahitian Pronunciation Cheat Sheet Hawaiian and Tahitian both have five vowels pronounced as follows:
A pronounced ah as in blah
E pronounced ay as in may I pronounced ee as in be
O pronounced oh as in no U pronounced oo as in rude
Every vowel is pronounced and all are pronounced the same way every time
The glottal stop or ‘okina (‘) indicates a short sound break (e.g., a’a) The macron or kahak ō ( ¯ , or ^) elongates vowel sounds (e.g., Pā’ia)
Vowels together w/o a consonant or glottal stop can be slurred (e.g., ai)
There are 7 consonants in Hawaiian: H, K, L, M, N, P and W
Most are pronounced similar to English, though p and k are softer.
The W is the only Hawaiian consonant w/ pronunciation exceptions; general
guidelines are as follows: First letter of the word: a “w” sound
After i or e: usually a “v” sound After u or o: most frequently like “w.”
After a: either
Tahitian uses 11 consonants: B, F, G, H, K, M, N, P, R, T, V
They are generally pronounced as in English. For both Hawaiian and Tahitian, every syllable ends in a vowel and
consonants are always separated by a vowel.
Hawaiian and Tahitian are related languages. There are many words that differ by only a few consonants:
Man = Kane (Hawaiian) Tane (Tahitian)
Woman = Wahine (Hawaiian) Vahine (Tahitian)
