Flying business? Then you’re in the HOT seat ! According to a study by the World Bank the carbon footprint of air travel tends to vary systematically and strongly between travel classes. Emissions associated with flying in business class are about three times as much as flying economy. A first-class seat may have a carbon

footprint as much as nine times that of one in economy class! Now that’s HOT! In business class and first class, seats take up more space and are heavier than those in economy so fewer people are being moved by the same amount of fuel.

Check out the Air Disaster Memorial This granite monolith and plaque is located on a small hill in Fairbairn Pine Plantation north of Pialligo Avenue in Majura. It commemorates the location of the 1940 plane crash that killed ten people, including three Commonwealth Ministers and the Chief of the General staff. Most of these senior Commonwealth figures held posts related to Australia’s defence. Apparently when their RAAF Lockheed Hudson crashed during the early years of World War II, it had a significant impact on the Government of the day.
