Luxembourg has always been very attractive for Payment firms looking for EU passporting due to thenature of the international skill set and language capabilities. However, solutions in the fields ofRegtech, Fundtech, Insurtech and Financial Inclusion, particularly in the B2B space, are gaining rapidtraction, aligning with the existing industry strengths of Luxembourg. We find that Fintech firmstargeting financial institutions with great solutions get better access to decision makers and fasterprocurement cycles then in most other financial jurisdictions. Key technologies of interest areBlockchain, AI and Big Data. The domestic ecosystem is being catalysed by the entrance of andpresence of prominent international Fintech firms such as Ant Financial (Alipay), Paypal, Bitflyer,Amazon Payments, Rakuten Bank and Lendinvest amongst others.

I see continued and rapid growth of the Luxembourg Fintech ecosystem, principally as a result of theaccess to and engagement from the financial institutions in Luxembourg. The traditional financialinstitutions are hungry for new solutions and are fast becoming more capable of agile engagement.The depth of expertise in English language, being able to apply to the regulator in English, do businessin English, and, critically, contracts in English, as well as easily access expertise in nearly all other EUlanguages and know-how of international business outside of the EU, is attracting firms to dobusiness from Luxembourg. The genuine and effective cooperation between the public sector and theprivate sector also serves as a great launch pad for continued excellence.

Since the formal registration of the LHoFT Foundation just a short time ago in April 2017, we havewitnessed incredible interest and growth in the financial technology sector in Luxembourg. Ourmembership has ballooned by 300% in less than one year and the sector now employs thousands ofpeople. Many leading Fintech firms have chosen Luxembourg as a strategic base of operations, andwe are certain that many more firms will do likewise; it makes sense.

The LHoFT is Luxembourg's dedicated Fintech platform. It is a partnership between the public &private sector tasked with ensuring the future competitiveness of Luxembourg's financialservices with a focus on digital innovation.

We work to develop and align the Fintech ecosystem within Luxembourg and connect thatecosystem with the rest of the world to advance solutions. SOLUTION / TECHNOLOGY

Apla is a peer-to-peer blockchain network that uses the delegated proof of stake(DPoS) method as its consensus algorithm. The network structure ensures themaximum bandwidth necessary for work of applications. Execution of smartcontracts and provision of disk space as data storage is paid for with fees(commissions) that work as stimulus for maintenance of validating nodes. Validatingnodes can be selected by investors/or states.
