Dragonflies Delight Kit Fee: $55.00Teacher: Kay StanisTechnique: Silk and Metal on CanvasStudent Level: Beginning to IntermediateClass Description: The rich hues of riverside iris attract a passing dragonfly. Using theprovided hand-dyed Congress cloth, metallic silk organza, silk and metal threads we willcreate an elegant memory of a late spring afternoon. Applique, long and short, couchingand stumpwork with beading are the techniques used to create the focal points. Studentswill be able to practice on the side of the canvas before working the motifs. Comedelight in the flight of joy.Prework: NoneKit Includes: Hand painted Congress cloth, metallic overshot fabric, silk and metallicthreads, beads, felt, tracing paper, needles, instructions and photo.Student Supplies: 14” x 16” stretcher bars with tacks, 8” embroidery hoop, pencil,beeswax, scissors for cutting metallic thread and one for cutting silk, laying tool(tekobari recommended), frame weight, straight pins, fabric glue, and usual stitchingsupplies. Petite Sampler Notepad Cover Kit Fee: $50.00Teacher: Joni StevensonTechnique: Counted ThreadStudent Level: IntermediateClass Description: This notepad cover is a small sampler in silk floss and perle threads,metallic threads and seed beads using counted thread techniques. The exterior of thecover is a band sampler that incorporates pulled thread, withdrawn thread and fifteendifferent crossed stitches. The removal/reweaving method will be used to create aninvisible withdrawal method for hemstitched areas. Construction techniques will bediscussed in class. Enrolled in the ANG Master Teacher Program, shereceived her Journeyman Level at the Milwaukee Seminar in September 2009. She has taughtat ANG National Seminar, ANG and EGA chapters and local needlework shops. She has beenpublished several times in Needle Pointers and won many awards for her stitching at ANGNational seminars. Joni supports EGA and ANG through her many years of volunteer work atthe local, regional and national levels.

Open to find matching silk dupioni and multipleembroidered pockets for scissors, threads and those special stitching tools. Mother of pearl,heart-shaped thread rings will hold the most delicate threads and the mother of pearl threadwinder will tuck into its own special pocket. There is even a mother of pearl ruler to helpmeasure and a handmade, bone needle to use as a laying tool. Wallet is 7” x 7” inches whenclosed and 7” x 17” when opened. Although the model is stitched in lavender, the studentmay work with the teacher to select an alternate colorway or antique white. Twelvedifferent stitches are used in this piece and will be clearly demonstrated. Students will alsomake twisted cord and learn to finish a scissor fob and biscornu. Marion Scoular is a three-year, Mark Excellent graduate of the Royal School of Needlework,and a City and Guild’s Silver Medalist. She has owned a shop and taught, lectured, and judged in43 states, Canada, Mexico, and Australia. She has authored several booklets and articles onembroidery techniques.

Cindy Valentine is the designer and owner of Cindy Valentine Designs. She is a member ofEGA, the National Academy of Needlearts, The National Embroidery Teacher’s Association,and ANG.. She has authored a group correspondence for EGA and is in the process of writinganother. Cindy has taught for women’s groups, guilds, shops, and private retreats as well asEGA Region and National seminars. At Water’s Edge Kit Fee: $75.00Teacher: Margaret KinseyTechnique: Rozashi - a Japanese needlepointStudent Level: Beginner and BeyondClass Description: The subject for this class is the iris which is a much-revered flower inJapan. This ancient Japanese technique of Rozashi is stitched on a specially woven silkgauze fabric called “ro.” The threads are tightly twisted silk and a 3-ply metallic. All aretraditional to Rozashi. The stitches used in this piece include the irregular stitch, straightstitches, the line stitch, step stitches and the background stitch called Jizashi. The designsize is 5.5” x 5.5.”Prework: NoneKit Includes: All threads, needle, ro attached to frame and nori sticking paste, and aninstruction booklet with color image.Student Supplies: Scissors for cutting silk threads, scissors for cutting metal threads,beeswax, pencil and pad for note taking, needle threader for small-eyed needle. Marsha Papay-Gomola is NAN Certified, Level II in Raised Embroidery. She has taughtneedlework at regional and national seminars for EGA, NAN, TNNA, and Callaway GardensSchool of Needle Arts. She has been published in Fine Lines, NeedleArts, Needle Pointers,and Sampler and Antique Needlework. In 2008 she received the Jean Taggart Award and TheExemplary Award from the National Academy of Needlearts. Marsha specializes in raisedembroidery emphasizing the use of silk shading to create realistic contemporary designs.

Registration InformationAll TVR members have first priority if their registration forms are postmarked on orbefore February 13, 2010. Registrations received after February 13, 2010, will beassigned according to postmark order, on a space-available basis. Out-of-regionregistrants may apply and will be accepted on a space-available basis if their applicationsare postmarked by April 3, 2010. Registration will remain open as long as there are openclasses. Members who pre-registered in Nashville in June 2009 must fill out theregistration form since the final registration payment is still due. Pre-registrants’ finalpayment of $140 must be postmarked on or before February 13, 2010, in order to ensureplacement in the selected class.

Registration covers the Saturday evening banquet, teaching fees, student handbook,seminar pin, teacher transportation and lodging, brochures, and mailing costs.

On the form inserted in this brochure, registrants should indicate three class choices inorder of preference. When mailing the registration form registrants should include (1) acheck for the total registration fees payable to Share-A-Stitch XXX; (2) a completedregistration form, even if pre-registered; (3) a business size (4” x 10”) SASE for classconfirmation; and (4) a SASE for Merchandise Night if applicable. Cancellation requests must be in writing and sent by certified mail to the registrar. Thoserequesting cancellation prior to May 15, 2010, will be refunded all fees except a $35 non-refundable registration fee. Twisted cord surrounds, stitches,embellishments, color placement for cast shadows, depth and perspective will be taught.Embellishment will be with student’s choice of threads and colors using outline stitch,whipped backstitch, and turkeywork (beards). Peggy Huffine is a fiber artist who loves to design bead jewelry and sculpture. Lynn Payette received her art education from her professional artist parents. She taught for 39years at the chapter, regional, and national levels: EGA, ANG, EAC, Callaway, NAN, Quiltguilds, Continuing Education, Adult Education, and shops. She has designed for JanlynnCorporation, Ibex Designs, Custom House and been published in Family Circle, Woman’s Day,Stitchery, Lee Wards, Threads, Needle Arts, and Stitchery and Needlelace. She teaches mixed-media/multi-fiber, crewel, silk and metal, stumpwork, Brazilian, needlelace, silk ribbon, dollmaking, beading, and clothing embellishment.

Itis a quilt-inspired stitch sampler using a wide variety of traditional and non-traditionalcanvas stitches. There are three colorway options: Kelp, Olive Grove, and AutumnLeaves. The finished design size is approximately 6 1/4” square. It is worked on line-drawn Vintage 18-mono canvas. Leaf Lariat Kit Fee: $85.00Teacher: Theresa BuchleTechnique: BeadingStudent Level: Basic IntermediateClass Description: The “Leaf Lariat” is designed to teach students two beadingstitches with emphasis on color theory with glass beads and learning how to expressindividuality in a structured piece. Just as in nature, each leaf on each lariat will bedifferent resulting in a one-of-a-kind piece of wearable art. Students will learn thepopular “Russian Leaf” stitch and a variation of spiral brick stitch. Topiary Tree and Robin’s Nest Kit Fee: $65.00Teacher: Patty Smith-GardnerTechnique: PunchneedleStudent Level: BasicClass Description: Punchneedle embroidery is showing up everywhere! This techniquecreates a lush, thick textured surface with an incredible saturation of color. It is unbeliev-ably easy and fast. Day 1 you will learn the basics of how to punchneedle, tryingdifferent threads and needle sizes, and then use your newfound skill to grow a sweet little“Topiary Tree” in a terra cotta pot. Emphasis will be on each person learning to beconfident and able to master the techniques, and on learning to add depth and texture byvarying the length of the loops with the special needle. Day 2 you will make a sweet,realistic “Robin’s Nest” with three perfect blue eggs. The eggs are punched and shearedinto shape. The nest is made of different colors punched together and randomly clippedto form sticks and twigs. It is a fun, freeing experience unlike any other punchneedlepiece you have ever done. Sampling the Snowfall Kit Fee: $45.00Teacher: Susan GoodmanTechnique: CanvasStudent Level: All LevelsClass Description: Enjoy stitching this canvas sampler that is an adaptation from aMonetpainting. This 2-day SAMPLER class is for those students who would like an introduc-tion to transferring their favorite photos to fabric and canvas while stitching a sampler.Students in this class will concentrate on how to use sampler stitches plus embroideryto change a photograph. They will enjoy learning how to interpret the picture inappropriate stitches for the Congress cloth. Patty Smith-Gardner has been a freelance commercial artist working with companies todevelop prototype collectible dolls and soft toys. Her real passion is for all kinds of needlearts. Her designs have been featured in A Passion for Punchneedle by Linda Repasky. Shetaught classes in punchneedle at EGA Seminars 2008 and 2009 and taught and lectured on thetechnique for various chapters in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

Susan Goodman from Centennial, CO, has taught needlework throughout the RockyMountain Region, at many region seminars around the country and for National EGA, NAN,Callaway, ANG and EAC (Embroiderers’ Assn. of Canada) Seminars. Her original embroi-dery pieces have been exhibited in five national EGA Biennial Exhibits, several of which havetraveled to galleries around the country. Susan’s current specialty is creative embroiderydesign with an emphasis on transfer methods and use of computer photographs.
