As per the I SO 9000 standards a Projectteam was formed for monitoring andmanaging the computerisation project onschedule. T he team comprised of Head of Departments, Key users consisting of doctors, Accountants etc, each fromvarious functional areas along with IT
personnel. General Manager (MedicalServices) called sponsor set directives andreviewed project.

I t can thus be seen that deploying IT canhelp the medical profession in improvingits quality of service and thusautomatically increasing the preparednessand defensiveness. Of course, it is of vitalimportance that the software must havethe right type of modularity and opennessso that it is manageable, maintainable andupgradable. T he hardware should also bereliable, available and have the necessary
performance capacity.
